Elite defense + a pair of rooks. &Ross as 6th man gunner like Tim Hardaway Jr

You want a Salmons clone starting on our team?

Are we tanking?

I think the Grizz offense is too slow; he wasn't able to play well. Prince > Salmons. If he doesn't produce, we bench him for Ross. But I think he'll be great on D and hit the corner 3 well.

Tayshaun had the worst ORtg DRtg net differential on the team

Made 0.3 3PT per game, shooting 29% from beyond the arc

This isn't the Tayshaun Prince of 5 years ago

I really like this deal but don't expect Prince to contribute a lick

I was hoping we'd bring back Carter.

Oh well.

At least Prince has a ring, that's the kind of veteran I'd like.

I think Patterson is gone. Look for Ennis/Stokes/Capela/Napier to go at 20/22.

Strange for it to leak, tho. Probably Mem trying to get #37 and Tor sticking on #59. Still seems like good overall value for us. Too good to be true?

Raps Militia wrote:However, there are also flaws in this trade, Prince is a terrible player now, he's still a very good defender, but he's offensively null, no longer able to pull from 3, he can't shoot free throws, and he has terrible percentages.

Do we need offense from that spot though?

Lowry (33) / Ennis (15)
Derozan (24) / Vas (24)
Ross (26) / Derozan (9) / Prince (13)

I'm fine with him getting like 13 minutes. Plays defense, veteran guy to teach the young ones and you let Ross have a full season at SF see how he does. Then you can properly evaluate if you need to move him or not.

Plenty of offense off the bench with Ennis/Vasquez/Patt

2 expiring vets that help now. A young big to add to the Scottie timeline
I'd prefer to keep Stew and give Monte Morris
I'd really prefer to keep Morris and Stew and give the great Killian Hayes and 2nd round picks

The 37th is a good pick. Wish we could hang onto it somehow.

Think of it this way though, 22 is better, and it's not as though Salmons was lighting up the world. Pure salary dump by Memphis, and we're getting the much better pick.

There's no way Prince should be starting if we want to be considered a contending team in the east. At this stage in his career he should be coming off the bench.

It's looking like we give away 37 and keep 59 now.

Can someone who's knowledgeable about the situation help me out here. What are the chances we keep 2pat AND GV if this goes through? I don't think this would have a big impact on keeping Lowry but what about the other 2 guys?

Is taking on Prince's salary that bad if his contract will expire next year anyway? That'll free up space, wouldn't it?

This is going to be disappointing when Memphis (probably) nixes this trade. Still, if it goes through, it's going to make tonight even more exciting.

Has Woj said anything on this deal? Until he says something I never truly believe a rumour.

The last time the Raptors had two first-round picks, they drafted Chuck V and Joey Graham, passing twice on Danny Granger.

I like this because Prince actually fills a need unlike Salmons. If he can just get his 3-point percentage back to career norms he'll be useful.
