We need D drills all night all day, No matter how you think mahinmi helps, our D sucks. I don't think its all the players either. Maybe we need to just simplify the system a bit.

I don't like Smith being out of the rotation, I love his rim protection alongside Mahinmi. I think it's essential.

We have no idea how to defend the pick and pop right now.

Smith has that nice rim work, his rim jobs are essential

Starters post AS break:

Ortg: 109.9 Drtg: 106.3

Pre All star break: Ortg:113 Drtg: 100

the small ball lineup with Bojan instead of Oubre is a massive disaster defensively. Drtg of 130 (holy ****)

if you think the bench is to blame, you're just simply wrong. The starters+coaching has been awful post ASB, Specifically the coaching.

I think the addition of the new players really hasn't worked out from a defensive standpoint yet. I'm hoping its because they are all focused on integrating the new folks into the offense, but the communication sucks. We left open shots all night long for like the 5th game in a row.

I would say it is like the 7th game in a row with a poor defensive effort (Toronto, Orlando, Phoenix, Denver, Sacramento, Portland, Minnesota, and Dallas).

I dont think that's it. We know Brandon Jennings and Bojan Bogdaonvic are bad defenders. We know the effort with certain starters is poor defensively. You replace Oubre and Satoransky with those two players, the defense is going to fall off a cliff. This is our rotation:

Wall Jennings
Beal Jennings
Porter Bojan
Keef Bojan Smith
Gortat Mahinmi

What exactly are we expecting here? that is not a good defensive team, thats not a team that will even threaten the cavs. They might not even get out of round 2. thats a mediocre team.

Watching that fourth quarter again, aside from the lazy defense, the Wizards were equally listless on offense.

When the Wizards didn't throw the ball away they basically resigned themselves to chucking up contested jumpers early in the shot clock and put absolutely no effort into getting quality shots as a team.

Really shocking with how little energy this team played yesterday.

They look an awful lot like the team that was sleepwalking through the early stages of the season.

The Wizards haven't really played any defense since the All-Star break.

Washington has surrendered 114ppg in the 12 games since then and the only team they managed to keep under triple digits was a Raptors team that missed 57 of 90 shots for the game, a lot of them wide open or near the rim.

Since the break Washington is allowing:

PPG 113.7 - 30th
FG% 48.6 - 29th
3P% 43.7 - 30th
3PM 11.7 - 27th
FGM 41.6 - 28th
FTA 24.7 - 23rd

This is a team that has simply stopped putting in effort on the other end.

Hopefully this last game will be a wake up call. I think they were feeling too satisfied with themselves
after the road trip. For 3 quarters they seemed poised to win then forgot that the other team,
however mediocre in the overall scheme of the league, is still trying to win. 39 opp points later,
they're staring at a bad loss. Time to stop resting on their laurels and get back to work.
While Smith was off last night and KOjr has been off for a while, I don't like how much
their PT has been reduced. I get that SB wants to fully incorporate Mahinmi and Bo but
it seems like he's hurt KO and GoaT jason too much in the process.

Point taken, but Mahinmi is not a bad defender. And again, just watching the flow, its not that they aren't trying or are two slow, its that they all get bunched around one guy and leave one or two others wide open. Their switches are really problematic. This is more about effort and communication.

Been saying that since first game back after ASG. Our switches are a step too slow. Lots of teams taking advantage of that too, switching off their bigs onto our guards near the hoop and eating them up. No help arrives.

Brooks needs to address this and fast.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Yea sometimes the other team hasn't even set up the offense yet and all guys are already guarding mismatches. It's like we're purposely giving teams mismatches.

Dude is definitely back on the good kush. His decision making the past few games have been real suspect.

A perfect example, Wiz up 3 in fourth quarter, Morris gets the rebound. Terrible outlet pass in traffic stolen and Curry hits a 3 in the corner. Or the fourth foul early in the third quarter.

GOOD KUSH....he is enjoying that life.

To be fair, he brought up wall, I didnt even say anything lol.

There is always ONE guy on any board that is anti-something....you are AntWall. You would rather have Anyone but Wall play point :)

We get it

At some point gortat and keef gotta look in the mirror.

Every board has that one guy that is super sensitive about the star of the team, his job is to deflect all criticism from that player and call those people "anti-Wall"

*wall airballs a fadeaway with 22 seconds on the shot clock in crunch time*

Me: wow that's a bad shot
You: "ANTI WALL"

We all say Wall cant shoot....WE ALL SAY he makes bad shot....the difference is...ALL you see is Walls flaws and it seems oddly unobjective. Either way you make the board "smile"
