Kyrie ranked as the 12th best PG in RPM. IT? 13th.
Crowder ranked as the 5th best SF via RPM.
Hayward ranked 9th in RPM.

Clearly Masai and Danny and many other actual GMs aren't placing too much decision-making in RPM.

No less tough than making the bet based on a hypothetical that will never happen with Gasol.

The problem I see for the Celts here is that this is another "hedge bet" type of transaction. Similar to the Fultz for two lottos.

If I'm a fan, I'm hoping for picking a direction and going aggressively for it. Either rebuild, or go all in. Giving up more futures for a combo of George and Butler, who are both a level above Kyrie, while retaining IT would be far more interesting.

The only advantage I see in this trade is that they were able to extract value from IT as an asset which probably wasn't there in other trades. But you end up losing assets to get younger and slightly better at the position. Essentially in a holding pattern, a hedge.

irving and thomas are almost the same player tbh... plus the cavs get crowder AND some picks? even in cleveland's **** years, when irving was the go to guy, he's never produced as much as isiah thomas did last year as the celtic's go to guy on a winning team... what are the celtics doing?

Kudos to you my friend for trying to put forth an argument that BKN isn't going to be a bottom dweller next season. This might be one of those ones where you back away from slowly.

Who cares? Why doesn't the whole season count?

He got hurt about 2 weeks in and never really recovered until then. One of those nagging hamstring injuries.

Funny how his numbers looked the same in the games in the middle.

Ainge is amazing. He got Isaiah for nothing right? Incredible work by him. Still think Cavs are the first seed but Celtics have done a decent job closing the gap. This will also allow Tatum to prosper with Crowder not there to take up wing minutes. Edit: Cavs also did well considering they got an allstar, a solid role player and a lotto pick. Edit edit: the more I think about it the more I feel Boston gave up too much....

Which palm reader told you the future?!

Gasol already expressed interest in a trade, MEM has to look at rebuild whether they like it or not. A top 5 pick in a very top heavy draft is about as damn good of a package as they can dream of getting. But maybe the long line in your palm dictates what will happen.

Kyrie is one of my favorite players and I can't stand IT but, doesn't this trade make Boston worse? They lose the Brooklyn pick and they lose a high-end role player.

On the other hand, good move by Cleveland! They move a guy that doesn't want to be there and they jump start post-lbj with the bkn pick.

WTF I guess I love Cleveland now.

Raps only hope is to blow their brains out in RS, no injuries, and get a #1 seed. Demar and Lowry 40min/game all year.

I don't think the Cavs are done dealing yet. Now they have the 2018 Nets pick, their own first round pick, and JR Smith, Shumpert and Crowder all playing at the wing, the same position occupied by the King. One if not, two of those wings would have to move, especially if they are going to chase after D-Wade. Maybe Love, Shumpert, Nets pick for Cousins?

Imagine this lineup:

Thomas/Wade/James/Crowder/Cousins

With ROSE! (holy crap I forgot about this guy)/JR Smith/Jeff Green/Thompson/Frye...coming off the bench. WOW!

IMO, I think the Celtics gave up too much to get Irving. I get that he is younger but generally bigger than Thomas but I'm not sure if Irving could do what Thomas did last season for the Celtics. I do not like Thomas but he was the reason why the Celtics grabbed the top seed in the East.

So to sum up the Celtics off season; they turned Bradley (a great defender and clutch shot maker) + Thomas (top 5 PG production last season) + Crowder + Olynik + Gerald Green + 1st overall pick + a top 10 pick for Hayward + Morris + Kyrie + Tatum and another top 10 round pick. But here is what makes no sense for me, why would the Celtics refuse to trade a valuable first round pick for Paul George or Butler but were willing to attach a valuable pick along with Thomas AND Crowder for Irving? Either Irving is that good or something is wrong with Thomas.

Man I must be crazy but this is a good deal for Boston. As a Raps fan, the best thing we could have hoped for was Ainge maxing out a 29 year old Thomas. Down the road that might cost them Tatum or Brown.

For CLE I don't get it. Thomas has no chance against Curry.
