Anyone think we kick the tires on a potential Stanton trade to bring him home to LA? I know Toles is healing up, and no way Puig, or Taylor are being removed from their spots in the OF. Do you think Stanton (massive contract included) is worth the trade to place him in LF? I feel like we have enough prospects and attractive players to make a move.

I wouldn't want to make a move for Stanton he has a contract that shouldn't even be moveable. He's a great hitter an average defender who likely just had his best season. I'm not saying 40+ homers a year is bad but he will never hit more then 50 let alone 59. He has also had some injuries in the past. I just dont think hes worth the contract he's currently on.

That's fair, and I appreciate the opinion. I'm just still in disbelief about all those RISP we left stranded. We have great hitters, and young bats that should learn to be more patient at the plate. Just wish we had a big bat going into that final game. Ugh, long off-season already.

Thoughts about who we should sign or trade for as another starting pitcher?

Stanton would be like everyone else with RISP try to hit it out and end up striking out. He has played more then 150 games in his career twice. He has never been to the post season so his injury concerns are even more concerning because playoffs could add on another 15 to 20 games. I dont see him being able to hold out health wise for a full season + playoffs given his history.

I would try to get Ohtani don't see it happening when Rangers can offer him a 3.5 M signing bonus or Yankees a 3.25 M signing bonus when we can only offer 300k. As for signing I don't see any FA pitchers worth it maybe bring Yu back but given his terrible WS I wouldn't be thrilled. I would pass on Arrieta just don't see him helping us winning a WS he's lost it since his Cy Young hasnt been the same. As for trade again depends on who's available give me Marcus Storman but I would pass on Archer 10 times out of 10 I just dont think Archer is a true difference maker.

Wouldn’t Otani just be a pitcher for us? Or that’s a problem too?

Agree on passing on Stanton. We’re almost out of the woods from crap contracts. I like what we are doing in the draft. Just...nothnx.

Friedman implied the team would get creative if we sign Otani. I'm guessing 1 or 2 starts a week, pinch hitting duties, DH when we play AL teams, maybe 20 to 30 starts in LF. I still think the chances of us getting Otani are .0000001 considering Rangers can offer 3.5 M and Yankees 3.25 M. Money wise we just cant compete and Otani apparently has off season workouts with Tanaka who just opted to stay with Yankees last week.

I dont have a link saw the key points on twitter

Here's the quote

“We definitely think it’s doable for someone who is talented enough to do both. It takes being a little creative in trying to figure out a schedule and figure out recovery days. But we definitely think it is doable,” Friedman said. “If we were ever to sign a player who is talented enough to do both, we look forward to the challenge of being creative to figure that out.”

Jon Heymann says Yu Darvish unlikely to be back with the Dodgers.

The World Series stung quite a bit but Darvish shut the DBags and Cubs down in his 2 starts before the WS. The Astros had his number cause he was tipping pitches the fact that our coaching staff didnt notice should say more about the coaches then the player himself. I'm not advocating we sign him but we shouldn't rule out the possibility of bringing him back. Calling him a fraud is harsh unless you wanna include every other player on the team with him cause the team lost the series not just Darvish.

Nah. I'm not going to nitpick other players in order to let chokes off the hook.

Pointing to a guy who melted twice in the WS, who is up for and probably looking for a long term deal with tons of money involved? Yeah. I'm gonna be harsh. Mean. "Unfair." He's a fraud and I don't want him back.

Look at my posts ITT. I've stated numerous times that i think the FO will bring him back...it's obvious I've thought about it and haven't ruled it out as a possibility. I just don't want him back.

We agree to disagree then. I would gladly take Yu back if price was right. I think their is a zero percent chance he comes back though. You can say he blew 2 games in WS which is true. But the rest of the team choked just as bad so let's trade everyone.

Justin Turner went from hitting 400 in NLDS to 360 in NLCS to 130 in WS
Cody Bellinger set the strikeout record for a WS
Kershaw blew a 4 run lead and then a 3 run lead in the same game.
Morrow gave up a huge homer in a game.
Maeda gave up a huge homer as well.
Jansen blew game 2.

Let's keep Alex Wood since he pitched a nice game 5 and trade everyone else because of one series.

Last year vs Cubs Rich Hill choked we brought him back and he came up big.

Yu Darvish got the short end of the stick with the matchup against a team that knows him if we had played Yankees Indians or Red Sox he wouldn't have imploded. To say a guy sucks cause of one series is beyond moronic after he dominated in both the NLDS and NLCS.

Trade Kershaw.
Walk from Yu.

I've been down since Game 7 was over.
Yeah, Woody stays.

Rich Hill pitched 6 scoreless innings against the Cubs in 2016. His only start against the Cubs this year was 5 IP and 1 ER. Not sure where you're going with that one.

Not getting in the mud with everybody else you named for several reasons. I'll leave that to Y(o)u.

Funny single out 2 players that dont play everyday and refuse to talk about the mostly nonexistent choking offense. Interesting way to view things. to throw two guys under the bus well not mentioning any of the offensive players who phoned it in for a whole series. Good times.

They didn't mostly choke.

It's called postseason baseball.
Your offense is going to get shut down and look silly some times, whether you're the 27 Yankees or not because there's good pitching. Good starting pitching. If that fails, good bullpens.
You're gonna win some games 1-0 or 2-1 in the playoffs or lose by those same scores.

It's almost a non starter to me, so I will let you continue to talk about the offense.
Doesn't bother me much if at all.

edit: and I edited my previous post.
lol at name calling btw.

Hey Ranma,

Get back in the ring a second.
You'll get a kick out of the reasoning to keep Yu Darvish around.

Just scroll up a sec.

Pretty simple game 7 explanation. Makes the right defensive play in the first and get a couple risp hits in the early innings and it's a 4-3 or 4-4 game going into the final three innings.

Morrow says all things being equal, he wants back in.

Likes our clubhouse and our youth.

If the numbers are right, I’d like him back. Stuff is electric. I do not view him as a Blanton that has burned out after a year of use.
