Don't see that happening. I had so much fear of us picking Barnes, because he fits the longboi scheme, happy he got taken before us.

This man has zero touch outside of 5 ft, he is an absolute blackhole on offense.

This is true actually, but I know they NBPA have been eyeing the 2022 draft as the time to lower the age limit to 18, so we'll see.

Scuttlebutt been going around with the success of the GL mercenaries...I mean IGNITE plus the options overseas like NBL, they aren't in a rush to do that anymore. Who knows, as you said..we will see.

Yeah, it's weird. I thought they had to make those changes by a certain time frame already (which may have passed? idk) but maybe his stock is falling a little and wants to prove it versus better competition?

Well if Bates reclassifies, the ncaa team would have a chance to get him for 2 years!! That's a big WOW. OR if he goes GL route, he gets to earn for 2 years.

If he jumps to either now, then that's a year earlier he gets to start making big money. Regardless of his chance of entering the draft a year earlier or not.

Maybe this is the start of the next gen? Get them earning earlier rather than working and playing HS/College ball for free. Get them into the G League or NBL, playing against better comp.

And when the age limit is dropped they all jump early.

Until then, if a team gets Bates for 2 seasons they can actually plan to build around him short term, if he’s good enough.

Guard/wings this draft, bigmen next draft.

Unless there will be some quick shenannigans going on, Bates will still be eligible vs Websomething.
This draft will still be the Chet vs Paolo heavyweights ( so to speak ) in their own tier with the Hardy , Griffin , PBJ , Caleb hoping to barge in like Scottie

Sounds like class of 2022 top recruit Jalen Duren will also reclassify from 2023 to 2022, his decision is on Friday. Next year's draft class could get top heavy in a hurry.
