USA basketball is so screwed after LeBron and Steph retire. None of these other guys will be able to carry the load like this. The rest of them completely shrank against Sudan, what a **** joke

I mean, to be fair, they won the last Olympics 3 years ago without LeBron and Steph. Tatum was the clear second option on that team, and it feels like he is barely getting the same opportunity this run, and that’s without Durant suiting up.

I guess my point is, players can step up in larger roles if needed, but they won’t be asked to in this run. They’ve proven it in the past.

It seems to me the list starts:

Davis
Bam
Lebron
Edwards
Holiday
Curry

Booker and Haliburton could properly be stuck at the end of the bench.

Barry Bonds Jr and Steph? The US tean came back soon as Derrick White started in the 2nd half. He would have had 10 assists in that 2nd half had lazy, out of shape Anthony Davis not messed so many close shots from passes from White. Speaking out of out shape, why is Embiid even playing right now.

Back to Barry Bonds Jr and Steph for a minute. US had a 99-92 lead with 2:54 remaining in the game when these two came in. South Sudan went on a 8-2 run to close out the game.

I think you are giving too much credit to Bonds Jr and Steph. The other countries are closing the gap at the level of play and it has nothing to do with Barry and Steph. 4 of the top 8 current players in the NBA are born outside of the USA. That should be a good indicating to the basketball world that the other countries are closing that US dominance gap.
