He has shown he’s most comfortable with the ball in his hands finding shots for himself and his teammates, but how will he respond to someone else running things? I think he’ll have to be sold on how another guy will be setting the table for him in a way he’s comfortable finishing.

This isn’t AAU…he’ll be glad to have some help. It doesn’t mean deferring- we saw last night that he needs a breather once in a while. Carrying a team on every offensive possession (and then having your defensive effort questioned) is not a plan for winning. It’s not like he demanded every possession.

This is not like asking Chris Bosh to rebound for LBJ and DWade…he’d welcome another reliable ball handler to make things easier for him.

I’m not suggesting that’s the case. What I’m saying is that Paolo hasn’t shown he has a bread and butter off-ball move another playmaker can set up and exploit other than a drive and kick. Apart from the times they’re running offense for others, how are they helping Paolo get easier buckets? There’s a variety of potential ways, we just haven’t seen him go to them much.

He can develop and refine his game quite a bit too. He’d be better for it.

If some are optimistically banking on AB basically developing ANY offense, it seems plausible to expect Paolo to add a couple twists that would actually make his life easier and his scoring more efficient.

I’m not saying he can’t or won’t. I expect him to. I’m asking for more suggestions on the ‘how’, or even just hopes and wishes with more detail than general improvement. What’s an example of a comparable player to Paolo thriving next to another playmaker and what sort of plays/sets/actions are they doing to be successful?

I'm trying to think the last time we've seen paolo in a situation where he wasn't doubled or blitzed... Paolo has to rep out his jumper and so does Franz, but we got to put an emphasis on getting shooters in here... The few times we've seen a true 1 on 1 possession he can hardly he guarded

The last three games, Jeff Turner has pointed that Banchero off-of-the-ball leads to him being wide open to receive backdoor passes. This is clearly something Coach is trying out.

Orlando is again sitting in the 4-seed.

First ones that come to mind are Karl Malone/Stockton and Webber/JWill…could also look at how Embiid works with Maxey and Harden.

Some Magic talk at about 26:00. LeBron giving SVG credit for basically crediting modern spacing offense.

Paolo is pretty unique in his game makeup, but one area he’s lacking is footwork in the paint. He’s not beating guys with pivots and spin moves very often, it’s a lot of brute force rip throughs looking for contact. But even those seem like opportunities he’s best at finding himself.

The comps I’m seeing are more Tatum/JRue or Randle/Brunson. In NYK Randle had to take a step back to let Brunson lead, in BOS JRue took the step back. Maybe the best guard for Paolo is the one he can set up, instead of one that can set him up? He’s definitely got a lot better this season at finding Suggs and Harris for kick outs.

Interesting splits! I’m surprised to see Phoenix rank so low considering they have Durant, Booker and Beal.

Reigning NBA champ and 2020 champs on the low end lead by playmaking big men, GSW on the high end (Milwaukee probably not far below on that list too), lead by high-end scorers. I know which one we’re built more like.

Crazy to see Dennis Smith Jr on there considering coming out of college defense was an issue for
him.

Can we outbid NY on Hartenstein ? Seems like better idea than Claxton.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

I think we can.. but would there still be enough money leftover to sign a guard as well?

We can trade Carter, Anthony. We wont sign Fultz and we can decide on Harris and Ingles. Money is not our problem for the next 2 years.
