Darko and even Nick Nurses scrambling around blitzing defenses are driving me crazy. These defenses only work on the college level or if you have very elite personal like we did our championship year otherwise this defense gets cooked every time.

Re: PG: Need some Dark(o) Magic (1-2)
I'm not taking too much stock in the early set of games. Unless you're a true contender going in, you will have up and down games. Doesn't help when Poeltl looks hurt and IQ can't hit a 3 to start the season. This will take some time before they get a groove and feel.
There were just a lot of defensive mistakes and frustration that impacted both ends tonight. Flush this one down the toilet and hope we don't get sonned by Wemby.

We will in fact get sonned by Wemby but yes this team does not have enough reps together especially defensively.

We got 4 more years of Immanuel Slowly at $32.5M. Damn.

What the hell is this, that's an insane thing to tweet.

Trend so far in the league is an insane amount of fouls calls. We are giving up 33.7 FTA per game and that only puts us 6th worst in the league. We are getting 28.3 FTA per game ourselves and that's only 17th in the league. To put that in context, we were worst in the league in allowing FTA's last season at 25.2 FTA per game.

Like I said in the game thread, this team looked better with the Mitchell/ Shead tandem.
It seemed like Raps gave up on full court defense. Too much effort. Are they rebelling against Darko already? The Mavs didn't look bothered by anything the Raps were doing.
I agree that I liked us when we had Davion and Shead. It was 48 minutes of tough defence that other teams struggled with.
Here's an honest question:
What would you rather have:
Davion Mitchell - 12 million
Immanuel Quickley - 32.5 million

Agreed and also the development coach argument is a non starter. The raptors are a luxury tax team they need to move now
No coach is going to get RJ, Ingram, IQ, and an out of shape Poeltl to play good defence against a good team. The personnel is the issue.
EDIT: Upon further review, having IQ guard Flagg and sticking Ingram on a washed Klay was a horrible move. Lost us the game.
You have 2 other seasons to lean on as a sample. I get it, the roster isnt built properly, but that doesnt mean you cannot judge the coach on what hes actually accomplished

Agreed with everything. Except, Wemby is already sonning the whole league right now.

Depends on the goal. If i want to be competitive, IQ. Otherwise Mitchell.

Yeah. AD looked like a Rookie that doesnt know basketball. We can be happy, if Wemby has an off day and only torchers Poeltl a little bit.

Re: PG: Need some Dark(o) Magic (1-2)
The whole defensive focus thing is just Darko floundering. He's trying to find any optimistic he can hang his hat on, but the idea that the starters would come out and play like the summer league guys was always poorly thought out. Just like the end of last year we were coming up short on tank offs and calling that a top defense. At some point stop trying to slap the cheepiest and easiest coat of paint on a problem and expect to fix it. The IQ contract was a big risk, it's looking like wishful thinking that he'd become our lead guard.

That is what is making the product unwatchable. If it keeps up like this, I'll have to take a break from the NBA. I don't want to watch teams that play zero defense or see constant stoppage of play because someone touched a guy with his pinky finger. That's not competitive basketball.
They allow way more contact in my son's rep games. These kids are out there fighting on every possession with very few whistles. Way more entertaining band of basketball.
What the NBA refs have started the year with........it's complete garbage.

Great coaches create defensive and offensive schemes that put their players in the best position to succeed.
Mediocre coaches forces their system onto players.
I will give Darko grace though, we have an abysmal roster if you want to win in the modern NBA lol.

He’s not injured. He’s out of the rotation.

Re: PG: Need some Dark(o) Magic (1-2)
3 games in it’s hard to really be definitive about much.
Scottie isn’t bombing 3’s anymore and is taking better shots. His attitude with whining and giving up on plays is still an issue though.
IQ cannot hit a shot but otherwise he’s about what I thought he is. Tough to find another Van Vleet or Kyle or big defensive playmaking guard to pair him with but that’s what he needs.
Ingram and RJ I like, though defensively it’s a rough pairing and really one of them needs to just bomb away from deep but they both love driving the paint.
Sample size overall is really small but I don’t have high hopes for our defense I guess.

2019 Eastern Conference All Stars
Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid
There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Can't wait for the "his salary will remain the same, lower % of cap in the future"
Like that makes up for the fact he's overpaid right now and overrated.
