My fear is one of the other NFC West teams or other NFC teams getting pass rushers.

Mike Lombardi says there are a lot of teams which may look to dump salary. So a team like the Falcons for instance.

Or Vikings could write off their season.

Meanwhile Kyle and Lynch doesn't make a move when the opportunity arises.

Yeah, we probably won't see him at all this season.

And now Garland is going on IR to keep piling it on

Can we catch a damn break with injuries. I think I saw Rams had only 3 guys on IR and I don't think they had any injuries last night, what is going on

I think McKinnon is done personally but I like what I saw out of Hasty. Hopefully he can fill the void & when is Coleman coming off IR?

He's not done, he's just limited in what he can do. He's not a between-the-tackles runner. He never has been, and he's definitely lost a step since the injuries. He doesn't have good vision or feel for running in tight spaces. He's at his best when he can get in the open field. As a third-down back, he's still a solid player. He's not an every-down back at this point, and it's debatable whether he ever was (he was never used that way, but Kyle seemed to envision him in such a role).

 so it’s sounding like Richard Sherman won’t be returning this week against the Pats...

If you ask me, I say both of them already has their minds made up about getting out of San Fran...

Anyone else get the feeling Robert Sahel is going to leave the Niners for a head coaching gig after the season?

Just as well, his defense is too basic. It worked with a dominant DL but now?

Want to swap DC's? Ken Norton for Saleh?

They run the same defense don't they?

They just don't have a secondary with 2 HoF DBs in their prime.

Quinn is available. Wasn't he DC up there?

Yup. Saleh was an assistant under Pete. Norton kinda sucks as a DC. He was let go by the Raiders. Doesn't have the talent like those LOB days.

Quinn was the DC. He got lucky. Right place, right time.

As a UW fan, I was shocked when Pettis was taken in the 2nd Round. Guy was a good kick returner in college however.

Go Dawgs!

The Pettis pick was a real head-scratcher. Particularly trading up for him. As I said at the time, I didn't see any single feature that set him apart as a receiver. Now, I later recanted somewhat, as he does have unique wiggle to get absurdly open at times, he's just extremely inconsistent and volatile (not in like a losing his temper way, just in a maintaining his focus, etc. way). I still believe the kid has the ability to play in the league. It seems like a mental issue with him. But if he can't see the field on this squad, he may be too broken to do anything with. And I don't see that he has any trade value whatsoever.

I don't love any of Carroll's progeny on defense. Carroll is an extremely talented secondary coach, who has consistently gotten production from unlikely places. That said, his defense was only truly special when it had elite talent on the back end. You don't have defenses with Earl Thomas, Richard Sherman, and Kam Chancellor together very often, particularly going along with guys like Wagner and Wright at LB, and very good - if not necessarily elite (with the exception of a few years from Michael Bennett) talent along the DL. I'm not convinced the defensive system can stand up without that caliber of player, or something close to it.

The Niners weren't as talented as the LOB last year, but they were probably better up front, and were still pretty darn talented on the back end. Plus I think they got a little lucky. They weren't as good as their numbers IMO.

Tartt left last Sunday's game so him being out isn't surprising, but there was never any chatter about Ward being hurt as he wasn't listed on any of the previous injury or practice reports.

The injury bug has feasted on the team this year.

Also related, the week 11 bye freakin sucks. If they don't find a way to go at least 2-2 these next 4 games before the bye, the season would basically be over.

The faint hope of being able to trade him has to be the only reason why he's still on the roster.

Whether he gets traded or cut, I expect he's not gonna be on the team after the trade deadline.
