It's a complicated question because people will justifiably point to how we bricked open shots as indicating it wasn't all on the defense or the spacing.
We also have multiple shooters who are ridiculous at making tough contested shots off their own creation or running around off a screen and that wasn't working either.
Gotta say, that Brunson missed 3pt attempt against a double team with the OG put back was very Kobe-esque. Did the Knicks really run that inbound so Brunson could work against Wemby? And why did Fox leave OG to help him? Weird stuff.
Either way, Knicks came back from down 14 to win game 1 and came back from down 29 to win game 4. And that is probably why they will be the 2026 NBA champs.
Well if the Spurs tipped their hand at some point that's how they were going to defend the action, it would have been very astute to draw it up that way.
Otherwise ... well ... there are limitations to Fox similar to Sexton and he may have had the right idea but the wrong timing. It's ok to leave your man and double the ball handler once there's only time left on the clock to make or miss; but a few seconds earlier we saw Fox doesn't always pay close attention to the clock.
