Re: Atlanta Hawks Official Trade Ideas Thread (Part 2)
Lonzo, Deng, Cavs 1st Round Pick (25th), Lakers 2019 1st Round Pick for Hawks 3rd Pick Overall.
Lonzo becomes a superstar attraction in the Atlanta market on the hardwood and in the studio.
Lakers pick again at the 3rd spot while shedding Deng's deal to free up 18 million more in cap space.
Done deal.

That's a really funny line. No that's not happening.
What you are basically offering is:
Lonzo to dump Deng.
#25 and LAL 2019 1st which will be a very late pick for our 2018 #3.
Even if you switch it to Lonzo for #3 (value of #3 is higher than Lonzo) and two very late 1sts for Deng - still a no.
Plus where is the compensation for taking on Lavar?
Try harder next time.

Pretty insulting trade proposal, honestly.

Hawks we're dead last in attendance last year. Struggling for relevance in a large market. I know because I live here. I agree the trade isn't ideal, but I can see the Hawks pulling this sort of maneuver. They need eyeballs, butts in seats and better promotion. Lavar on deck?

That number 3 pick would put butts in seats especially if it’s someone like Young who is being touted as the next Steph or Bamba who is a freak with a cool name and a popular song made about him.
That deal is not worth it, like not even a little, and I like Lonzo.

Not a Lonzo fan, btw. Guy averaged 10/7/7 in his rookie campaign though. Hawks may feel his unselfish game could draw free agent interest. He's box office for better or worse. He and his dad. Atlanta is hip hop central. All that swagger and bravado (fake as it may be) would be embraced and monetized off the court too.

That's nothing new. Hawks fans aren't going to games to see Lavar, it'll be Lakers fans showing up to see Lavar.
Meanwhile Hawks fans take a bad deal. No thanks.
Suggest an alternate trade, because Hawks aren't trading #3 for Lonzo.
Here's a suggestion: Lonzo, #25, Deng straight salary dump. That $25 million cap saving for LAL.

This is more like it. And lol @ the suggestion that Lonzo would be a draw here because of "hip hop". How insulting is that? Like we're a bunch of dumb arses that want TI on the roster. Bad basketball be d*mned but Lavar in the building!!!

Re: Atlanta Hawks Official Trade Ideas Thread (Part 2)
I actually really like Lonzo as a player. His vision is impressive and he has the makings of being a legitimate floor general.
That being said, I wouldn't trade #3 for him straight up. There was a report a few months ago that the top four projected players in this draft (Ayton, Bagley, Doncic, JJJ) would have all gone number 1 overall last year. Lonzo's lack of a jumpshot and the circus that is his father are big negatives. Also, if we're making the selection strictly for fan attendance (which is foolish), Trae Young would probably be better than Lonzo in exciting our fanbase.
Luol Deng also makes this trade laughable. We're not interested in his albatross contract.

I'm glad we're connected with the Faried and #14 rumors. I'm not interested in giving them #19 for such a trade, but I'd give them #30.
#30 for Faried (salary dump) and #14. Package 19 and 14 to move into the top 10. Come out of the draft with Bamba and Trae Young.

I think the Nuggets have a smidge more leverage than most give them credit for. There's already reporting from Michael Scotto that Brooklyn is dangling 29+Dinwiddie and offering to take a large expiring salary back to get into the mid-first. According to Michael Cunningham on the LO Hawks pod, Atlanta also wants an expiring deal. There aren't a ton of those out there for those teams who are also willing to move their picks.
I think Atlanta would probably have to part with 19 to get it done, or add a player to 30 who's paid minimally but helps. Depending on who's there at 14 (the variable that's unknown) I think they would, too. It'll come down to who's on the board, who likely will be on the board at 19, and if there's a guy you have to move up to get. Faried becomes a positive trade chip at the deadline too. It's not like they'd be taking back Ian Mahimni.
30 alone won't get it done if the Nuggets can get 29 and a good backup PG for next year, which fits a need.
Going to be interesting!

Hey guys! Long time RealGMer, but not an active poster.
Agreed. 19 is too much for just Faried & 14. But, this will be the biggest night of our entire rebuild so why not start it with a bang! If TS is looking to rebuild via draft, this is the offseason to make bold moves. Here’s a scenario for 2 trade ideas that I think might be an overpay, but would be strong moves toward our rebuild:
MEM Trade: Prince, Baze, 30, 2019 unprotected 1st for Parsons, 4
- Mem fills holes in their roster for win now, unloads Parsons contract, and gets 2 young valuable assets (Prince & top 5 pick in 2019). 30 sweetens the deal.
DEN ORL Trade: Den gets 19 | ORL gets Shroeder, 14, Den future 1st (top 20 protected) | Atl gets Faried, Biyombo, 6
- Den gets best pick offered to unload cap.
- Orl gets their shooting PG to win now while unloading cap. Gets 14 and future 1st to sweeten the deal.
Why for ATL: Hawks start their rebuild strong with 3 top 10 picks. Pierce gets to teach fresh players his system. No more cap space, but Faried is an expiring and Parsons, Biyombo & Plumlee will get off books by 2020 offseason.
Roster:
3 / Taylor
4 / 34 / Dorsey
Parsons / Bembry
Collins / Faried / Muscala
6 / Biyombo / Plumlee
Thoughts?
