This is a little harsh
Yes, they are both long bois, but they both have skill IMO.
Green shot 36% from 3, 78% from the line and also averaged 2.6 AST to just 1.6 TO as a wing. Plus he made significant impact as a freshman defender. I know I'm higher on him than most people, but I think there's a really good foundation there. I'd be absolutely thrilled to take him at 15 and think he could definitely become Fournier's replacement in 2021-2022.
Maledon I think is a guy who is perhaps being unfairly dinged for choosing to go the complete opposite route of Killian Hayes (who I obviously really like a lot too).
Hayes opted to play for a bad team who stuck him on the ball and essentially just let him spam pick and rolls. That was great for KH's individual success, sure, but his teams were not very good overall.
Maledon opted to play for a really good team (the No. 1 team in the top French league) and while he was put into much more of a pick your spots kind of role, I also think he developed some good habits in the process.
One thing that stands out to me when watching Maledon film is that you can really see where he benefited from the structure of being on a good team. Defensive rotations, defensive communications, hard cuts, extra passes, etc. Maledon does a lot of that stuff really well.
My main concern with Maledon is that he was such a low volume player because of his role that it makes projecting how he would react to bigger usage kind of difficult. And as we know in the modern NBA, it's tough to have success with low volume players offensively period, but especially ones who are going to be tasked with actually having the ball in their hands.
