I think this is were we stand.

KG+Terry or Lee for Jordan+Bulter this allows for Boston to actually absorb the cost of Jordan's trade kicker so that the cheap SOB in LA doesn't take on any salary. Lee would seem to be a better fit for the Clippers needs as they have Crawford already but Terry is a year shorter.

Then it is Doc for the draft pick compensation.

I can live with that, especially if it is Lee who is sent out.

The only person I trust at this point when it comes to his reporting is SAS. SAS said that Danny Ainge holds all the cards here and that Danny want Blake Griffin and he said that if he can't get Blake he will settle for nothing less than Jordan, Bledsoe and a 1st round pick. Ainge still has Doc, KG and Pierce under contract. He Doc want to go into broadcasting that is fine and if KG want to retire that is ok too but Danny Ainge is not going to make a bad deal. So this is really a high stake game of poker and Danny believes he holds all the cards. The Clippers are the team that has to do something to get Chris Paul to sign back with them.

So again according to SAS he said that Danny Ainge will not settle for anything less than Jordan, Bledsoe and a 1st round pick IF he can not get Blake Griffin.

So now we know that SAS is Danny's guy

makes sense, that's why Griffin was in the initial leak. Whatever trade that takes place subsequently makes the Clips feel like they 'won.'

That is the key to getting a deal done, ensuring the other side thinks they won.

Meanwhile, if i am reading it right and Vecsey is to be believed, Danny was from the get-go happy to get DAJ and a pick. Now he is going to get that plus the dump of Lee or JET and the kick-start to the rebuild. meep meep

I don't think this is over. Danny simply called Sterling's bluff. LAC doesn't want to lose CP3, and, right now, the Doc/KG trade is the best way to ensure that he stays. I still think both teams are too invested to give up on this deal.

KG's status depends on whether/if he waives his no-trade.

Rivers kinda screwed himself here. You know he won't make $7m as a broadcaster and if he tries to go to another team, compensation will be required since he signed a non-compete clause in his contract. We won't have to pay $7m in a rebuilding effort.

If LA wants a hall of fame Power Forward and a big name star coach that will guarantee your franchise player to resign, giving up an Eric Bledsoe and a late 1st isn't that big of a deal.

Getting Jordan and a crappy first could turn out worse than simply letting KG retire. There's just little to no upside with such a deal. Remember that if you're willing to pay Deandre 13 million it sets the tone for future negotiations with guys like Bradley, Rondo etc.

I hope these talks stay dead and Ainge convinces everyone to come back for another run.

I have been and still am one of the biggest proponents of blowing it up and moving on. That being said, I'm not shedding any tears over the Clippers deal falling through. A bad contract and a future late pick...what are we really losing? I'd rather get the cap relief provided by KG retiring and Pierce being waived. Hell, we might even be able to tank while bringing back Pierce/KG....the best of both worlds. No need to deal unless it provides meaningful help.
