Silly to put them in the same boat. Nobody's in the same situation as Amare.

I have openly ripped Bargs but I have to hope for the best. If he can shoot still Bargs can spread the floor.

kNicksGmen wrote:people need to realize novak and camby are both bad contracts at this point and bargs is better than them both. the people saying they should be giving us picks are insane. it would be straight up rape if it was just a player for player deal. knicks throwing in a couple picks makes it more fair.

i'm not happy to give up any picks, but we're in a position where we need to take risks just like the nets did. we're not mortgaging our future either like the nets did.

So many things wrong here.

1) Camby's contract isn't bad. It's non-guaranteed next year, meaning it's basically an expiring. It has value.

2) Giving up a first is the definition of mortgaging the future. Especially when we still owe future firsts from previous trades.

3) Last but certainly not least, ANDREA BARGNANI DOES NOT MAKE THE KNICKS A CONTENDER. Why give up an expiring plus a future first (read: assets) for an underachieving highly-paid player who cannot under any possible circumstances help us win a championship?

We can still find toughness for minimum deals or something elsewhere. It's not like this is the final roster. Hopefully, Tyson actually plays like his old self next year.

Giving up the first rounder absolutely sucks, but at least saving money in 2015 is SOME consolation. A "good" Bargnani that can provide some floor-spacing and score, along with saving a decent amount of money in 2015 will hopefully be worth a first-rounder.

This is the best I can do to rationalize this deal. I will probably troll Bargnani again sometime soon.

It does because you don't have to rely on him as the second scorer.

Bargnani loves to shoot 3 pointers, too bad he sucks at em.

Last 2 seasons.

2011-12: .296

2012-13: .309

Average 3 rebounds a game this past season for a 7 FOOTER.

If this deal goes happen, then Amare's, Melo's, Chandler's and Bargnani's contracts will come off the books in 2015. o_O
omg the trade would be horrible if amare was included. i was completely against the idea of swapping amare for bargs. there is no reason to do it since it does not improve the cap situation and amare is a far better player than bargs when healthy. bargs for novak and camby is a steal. throwing in a couple picks makes if a fair deal.

tell me...how is barf's contract better than camby's and novak's? Because of the extra 3.5 mil in his last yr? We are still using up more cap space by taking barf's contract for the next 2 years...and this deal is going to confirm that we are not a top 5 team in the east....in fact, i wouldn't be surprised if we miss the playoffs next season.

Knicks trade a guy who barely played and a guy who everyone bashed all season long for a guy who was miserable in Toronto

perhaps he can be slightly more useful to us than Camby on the bench and Novak nowhere to be found

hell, his D and rebounding arent as bad as novak. thats something

Honestly, his man to man defense is very good. His help defense on the other hand... forget about it.

Bargnani will definitely be better in NY than he was in Toronto the last couple of years (barring injury, of course). If he's healthy, I think he'll be a great option for the Knicks on the offence. If this deal goes down, hopefully someone in the coaching staff can motivate him.

I think it's a win-win deal for both teams.

Who cares about draft picks that range between 25-30. Did all the picks we picked over the few years pan out? Come on chill...

yup. It's really not that bad of a deal. It sucks that we have to give up a pick, especially since it will be during our (hopefully) rebuilding period. RealGM Knicks like to act like the sky is falling after every major deal we pull off.
