Re: Trade deadline, buyouts, and waivers
Listening to Travis and Chad on the Rip City Drive. They're talking about Gordon and what the Blazers would need to do. They're saying the Blazers would need to involved a 3rd team to take Trent Jr for a decent draft pick because that's what Orlando is looking for. So I guess the question now becomes... Would you do Hood, Collins, Simons, and essentially Trent Jr for Gordon?

Re: Trade deadline, buyouts, and waivers
Say what you want about Olshey, but I bet we were really close to making a move, and a top 3-5 destination for a lot of players that get traded:

Because love can burn like a cigarette.

Leave you left with nothing.
And leave you left with nothing.
Leave you left with nothing.

Powell and Oladipo are very good players. Both would be upgrades to GTJ. Gordon is not close to as good as Oladipo or Powell.

Re: Trade deadline, buyouts, and waivers
Zach Collins is an expiring contract if his foot problem is going to hinder or end his career. Otherwise, he is a player we need to extend, same as GTJ and DJJ. Hood is an expiring contract. We are not going to pay him $10M next year.
DJJ is a contract we have limited options to extend. So, he might be considered to be a trading chip, similar to Hood's expiring contract.
Blazers might be having difficulty re-signing GTJ. This would be a good reason to talk about Oladipo and Powell. If Trent wants similar money to better players, why not set ourselves up to pay the money and have a better player.

Its worth noting Powell has an absurd wingspan for his size (6'4 w/ 6'11 span'). This makes him more playable at SF than one would think. I personally would take either if the price is right, but it has to be right as neither are likely to be more than a Afflalo like rental.

The BS sales pitch on AG is he has hidden undisplayed talent because so far he has been misused. This guy has played over 12000 minutes and has been given the ball and a greenlight. We have seen everything he can do.

Powell is a very good defender. He's the type of player we need. Although, I don't want him unless we have a deal to resign him. He would cost GTJ at least, we can't give up that much for a player that isn't going to be here awhile.

Olsheys biggest trade was for a washed up Robert Covington. Expecting him to make a splash when all he has ever tried to do is stay afloat seems unwise.
I'll be pleasantly surprised if he proves me wrong, but I suspect some minor deal like getting Javale McGee

I just read a BS rumor that Celtics are offering Marcus Smart for AG. That's almost as much crap as the Blazer rumors. Noway would Ainge trade Smart for AG.

I'll take another washed up RoCo. Or, another Plumlee for Nurk and a 1st.

Re: Trade deadline, buyouts, and waivers
I tend to doubt Portland will be able to do any meaningful move without sending out GTJ. I
doubt seriously Portland would be able to move GTJ for a meaningful draft pick in a really
solid draft for the other teams know he's about to get paid. Trading for a Powell or Oladipo
would make little sense for they also are about to get paid.
Likely there will be minor trade involving Hood. It will be fascinating to see what they can get
for his contract.

Re: Trade deadline, buyouts, and waivers
Which is precisely why neither Oladipo nor Powell make any sense for us. Dipo will probably go to New York or Miami as a free-agent and Powell wants to opt out to get paid more and will probably get an offer similar to what GTJ will get.d-train wrote:Blazers might be having difficulty re-signing GTJ. Re: Trade deadline, buyouts, and waivers
RoCo is playing fine. He is not the problem. The problem is he can't cover for a bad defensive back-court AND one of the worst center defenders in Kanter.Waynearchetype wrote:Olsheys biggest trade was for a washed up Robert Covington. Would be nice if Portland still had Moses Brown. He had a 20pt 16rb 5blk game this month, and is averaging 11pts 11 rb 2 blk 1 stl this month.

Well McGee is officially off the board. Sent to the Nuggets for Hartenstein + 2 2nd round picks.

I always liked Moses, had him pegged as a R2 steal. He looks a bit like a baby deer version of Marcus Camby or Tyson Chandler out there. Way better prospect than Giles.
Also, get me AG.
