More on the story to come as things develop. Stay tuned!

Just for the record, most of my players have already been traded so Siakam will be returning to the City of Roses unless we get a S&T offer we can't turn down.

Yes to stretch, more options on managing the cap better, I would even propose a one time amnesty for new GMs to be exercised within a year or something, they can even make a great deal acquiring a bad contract and kick start their campaign, we could also include a non playoff team requirement to prevent teams like Indiana getting stronger but obviously it wont apply to Brooklyn :o

How does stretch break the competitive balance? It will mean they have less cap space next season

New Orleans Pelicans and Træ Young have officially begun discussing a contract extension, sources tell The BAFletic. Young, 22, have made All NBA 3rd Team in just his 3rd season. Averaging 31 and 11 for the season, he led the franchise to it's best ever 65 win mark. New Orleans Pelicans GM El Poochio, who was critical of the extension rule in the past, have known to be said: "I have to put my personal feelings aside and do what's best for the betterment of New Orleans franchise." Sources within the Pelicans organization lauded the chemistry between Træ and AD: "They clicked on from the very first day and we have our eyes set on building on that connection." Both players being represented by Klutch Sports is also set to be crucial in Træ's extension talks. Pelicans will hope to build a better supporting cast around the Defensive Player of the Year and their young emerging star to take them further beyond Western Conference Finals in the upcoming season.

I’m not sure why all this would be necessary (stretch & amnesty provisions) when 90% of the leagues contracts are due to reset in a year. If all this is a mental stimulation package for GMs to remain active then maybe they shouldn’t be in the league to begin with. If cats need all these mulligans to prevent them from letting the league die then it doesn’t exactly bode well for the future anyway. Soon as things don’t go well for their team they will be likely to look to bounce again.

maybe if a team chooses to keep the player the wish to stretch, they have to forfeit a pick or something. that will really make them contemplate whether or not it's worth it

Just to give people more options on how to manage their cap? To make the experience more GM-friendly

Its like a bank loan when you purchase something, after you buy and vendor gets all the money you agree with the bank to pay the total amount in loans instead

Rule proposal: We have put Sign & Trades forward but I dont think it has happened even once, why dont we make it possible for any player signed? You gotta trade them in like a week or wait until season to do so

There was at least one sign and trade last year. Terry Rozier went to the Bulls in a S&T with Miami I believe off the top of my head. When I get back on my laptop I can see if I’m right and if there were any others.

Also, if anyone has a legit proposal for rule changes please PM me them and I’ll post them at the appropriate time. I don’t want this thread to become only discussion on rule change proposals until we get through the 3rd/4th year player option deadline. There are still nine teams that need to make decisions on these players and don’t want the thread hijacked where they may miss the deadline.

Not to mention a rule was put in place to stop this very thing from happening a few years back when the league decided to put a 1/15 date on trading free agent signings.

It just wouldn't be BAF without a summer of carnage from Smash.

Speaking of summer, it's **** hot out here right now. I did not sign up for this.
