Yeah tonight the Knicks didn't have Robinson or Noel but I hope when we play a real center that Nick starts Birch for Gary. Our D will be so tough with all the length.

And it looked tonight like Precious has fallen behind Khem in the pecking order

To his credit, Previous has stopped wildin' out during the first handful of games to start the season. I swear, every time he grabbed a defensive board, he would lead the fast break...or at the very least bring the rock up himself. He must have taken Nicky's notion of everyone being able to handle the rock to heart.

Now he grabs the defensive board and passes it off.

Either way, I would not at all be mad at Gary coming off the bench. Khem or Previous can start, but it would just make it some easier for Nicky to stagger the lineup instead of bringing in his bench with one of Fred, Pascal, Scottie or ADOBE on the floor.

He's gotta have 2 out of those 4 on the floor at all times.

Listen the Knicks were depleted but let’s not act like they didn’t have a bunch of first rounders and lottery picks out there today. I think you definitely can take something from a game like this and the things you can take from it are the same things we showed on our early 5 game win streak:

-we have lots of weapons on offence
-when we play the length from our bench it leads to transition buckets which compensates for their inability to play halfcourt O
-when healthy we don’t have to play lineups that are majority bench players…like nobody was yelling at Svi and Boucher today. Precious only a lil bit haha

Not sure why people are afraid to say that this healthy Raptors team is a good team when the evidence is right there in front of them.

Yup we crushed a Knicks team missing some guys and that’s what we were supposed to do. It started early and we had control the entire game, even as guys were rusty and chemistry was off defensively at times.

That is why we keep it moving. Beat a terrible team (they are terrible to begin with) and move onto the next.

Raps healthy are a good team. Just not good enough to win a 'chip. Sure, they can be competitive...but that puts them in no-man's land when it comes to landing high quality talent via the draft. Free Agents ain't checking for the Raptors.

this is true, but it's not like we'll be picking 1st/2nd/3rd nor picking 30th. the range that we'll be in is similar whether we actively tank or not so it's not really worth stressing about. we'll hopefully get a decent prospect whether we draft 12th, 14th or 18th.

and what we'll have to watch for the rest of this season is what they do in the trade market (whenever covid calms down a bit). i'm sure bobby/masai are seeing the same things we're seeing. if the goal is to compete for chips and not just be satisfied with a treadmill playoff team, at some point they'll need to decide whether to commit to this core with fred/pascal and fortify it or trade fred/pascal to strengthen around og/scottie and play the long-game.

Well I think the idea this year was to just play the guys and see what we have. If we look good the front office keeps this group together and adds at the fringes and if this group isn’t showing signs then we make moves and give the keys to Barnes.

So far it’s looking like this core will be good enough.
