If I had to guess this sounds like a 7-10 day type injury, so pretty minor but still a long shot to return during the series.

I just realized.... Embiid ALWAYS injures our players in playoff series.

Back in 2019, Siakam suffered a calf contusion because of Embiid.
Now this. SMH...

Sigh of relief.

Here’s hoping he’s back for game 3 or game 4.

What's the recovery timeline for an ankle sprain? First thing on google tells me 2 weeks but I'm gonna guess that's for 100 percent pain free. I'm sure he can play hurt if he has to. Probably gonna depend on how we play in game 2 and 3.

Depends on the grade, pain tolerance and overall stability, really depends on the individual healing powers.

In typical Raptors fashion he will be listed as “Questionable” before every game until the series is over.

Considering his age and the type of ankle injury which was lateral stretch, he could very well be back for the 1st home game if he gets the right treatment to accelerate the healing process if it's a mild grade 1 sprain a target date for wednesday is not our of the question but in all probability we can expect a game 4 Saturday appearance if all things go well.

IIRC, that was Pascal's fault because he threw out his leg while he was on the ground, to trip Embiid.

The issue with lateral sprains is the potential of reinjury. When the tendons overstretch, they lose some degrees of elasticity, and being over-loose can cause a subluxing peroneal tendon, which is to say it "rides out of it's groove" and constantly wears down, like a rope on a damaged pulley.

Whatever the Raps med team decides, we can rest assured that it will be the right call in the long- run.

I trust McKechnie to do the best he can and make the right call, we have the best in the business.

My guess is he's probably done for the season even if we do advance.

Maybe back if we somehow make it to the ECF.

Scottie is in good hands. They will make the right decision. They aren't rushing him back.

This is not looking good. Couldn't have imagined a worse start. Three rotation players out tomorrow (two starters) is a ridiculous amount of bad luck. All we can hope for is to steal a game to extend the series enough where it's a possibility we can get our guys back.

Those are not the MRI results. The MRI is supposed to reveal the grade of the lateral left ankle sprain.

Trae Young last year suffered a grade 2 lateral left ankle sprain during the regular season.

He was wincing in pain similar to the way Barnes was.

The MRI revealed that it was a grade 2 sprain:

Young came back 9 days later and dropped 32 points in 28 minutes against the 76ers on the road.

Worth noting, that was during the regular season. So in the playoffs, he would've returned even earlier.

I think there is a real shot that Barnes returns in this series IF the Raptors can win a game or two & it's nothing more than a grade 2 sprain.

I just hope (and expect) that they play it smart. If there’s any long term risk in bringing him back in this series, just don’t. I’d much rather he gets healthy for the offseason to work on his game

Now if he’s ready to return at some point in the series that would be fantastic but we’ll have to see

The update is in hidden language. Minor injury that doesn't affect his offseason development but probably to keep him out the rest of the series.

Soo damn happy about this news. I was so concerned that he would miss offseason development.
