Yesterday was a big day for big men (who could be available in the 2nd round) shooting 3's.

Above I posted Adama Sanogo and Coleman Hawkins videos.

Here's the Xavier vs Villanova game, where Xavier 6'9" PF (small ball 5) Zach Freemantle dropped 29 points, including 2/2 from 3:

Watching the video, I thought Freemantle hit like 3 or 4 threes. But the box score only says 2. Must have been 1 or 2 shots he hit with a toe on the line..

It's the era of bigs who can shoot the 3!

Reeve Beekman a Jr averaging 10-3-5 on 47% from the three in the ACC. Any chance we get him for our 2nd?

Yeah he's likely to be there in the 2nd round. Virginia players are usually high IQ, good fundamentals too. We've got Hauser and Brogdon for Virginia alumni.

Beekman is a 6'3" combo-guard, though. IDK if Brad goes with another guard with this pick. I suppose he might, if we keeps all 3 2nd round picks (then maybe he goes 1 guard, 1 wing and 1 big). But I am thinking he probably trades at least 1 of these picks.

We could get him or another guard on a 2 way, promote JD, and dump Payton to save $4 mil plus tax, and still be at the status quo for guards.

True. I do like Beekman's game. Better defender and shooter than JD.

JD is a year younger though, more explosive/athletic so higher upside..

Basketball guru and writer Jeff Goodman, who does a Podcast with Bob Ryan,
calls Purdue's 7-4 Center Zach Edey, the "best player in the country."

NBA scouts and Draftnicks tend to disagree, barely placing him among the Top 40 prospects.
A "polarizing prospect" they say, but I am somewhat intrigued by him. He's like a bigger
Kornet on steroids with more coordination, so I see a place for him on the Celtics and the NBA.
He could be worth trading up for as I suspect his Stock will rise, perhaps significantly...

The way I read this summary of the Celtics Second Round Pick Permutations:

2023 - 31-45 to CHA; 46-60 to WAS (via CHA); Less favorable of DAL and MIA if HOU 31-32 and if BOS 13-30; more favorable of (i) HOU 33-60 and (ii) less favorable of DAL and MIA if BOS 13-30 (via MIA to DAL; via MEM swap of DAL or MIA for HOU); POR (via CLE to DET to LAC to ATL); ORL 56-60

The Celtics right now have only Portland's No. 44 and Dallas No. 52 picks, since Houston is at 31. Washington meanwhile will
receive the C's 2nd Rounder, since it is currently at 60 and the Magic are nowhere near 56-60. But it's a whole steaming pile
of lawerly gobbledygook.

On Edey, I’d be in on a flier with him. They’ve taken other giants so it wouldn’t be out of character, and he’s been really successful in college ball. Split time with our old friend Trevion Williams.

Houston is just too bad, dang it. Portland may have to take over and have a few more teams pass them in the standings.

Eh, IDK. I feel like Edey is not really a fit for the modern NBA. He's like 295 lbs. His closest comparisons are Boban and Tacko. Tacko is out of the league and Boban never plays.

Edey just doesn't have the foot speed, can't guard people. You think Kornet is slow and unathletic, Edey is worse. Edey will have a good pro career, but probably somewhere overseas.

They'll have an f u moment when they move Gordon, and the young guys will win 3 straight.

I'm in on having him on my list of guys - you think Kornet is good at the Korntest, wait until 88" of Eclipse hits the league.

Seriously though he's been much, much better in college than Tacko ever was, better at handling big minutes, scoring volume, FT%, much better passer, offensive rebounding isn't in the same league - if they gave Tacko and Bol I shot I'm not sure why they wouldn't for a guy that's much better at basketball.

Looking more and more like this guy will go 1st round. But if he falls to us, you grab him in a heartbeat.

6'10", 7'2" wingspan. Only a freshman. Has all the makings of a really good PF who can play small ball 5. Plays hard.

Purdue was 208th on defense in the country last year, with Zach Edey platooning at center with old friend Trevion Williams. Williams left to go pro and then Purdue is now 70th on D with Edey taking on that job full time.

He’s 100% on the list if he’s around when Boston’s fleet of seconds comes up. Guy is a very good basketball player.

The next KD ?

You won't find this guy in any mocks so a potential 2nd round sleeper..

Ok. Kobe Brown might be our guy.

I posted about him before after he had a couple of big games vs good teams.

Now I start watching this vid. I'm only 3:30 into it and LOVE what I'm seeing from #24 on Missouri.

1) His name is Kobe, which is obviously Tatum's mentor
2) Last name is Brown, like Jaylen Brown
3) You watch this guy play. Some of the herky jerky moves, the spin moves, hesitation, the mid range pull-ups. The way he uses those crafty moves combined with a strong frame rather than crazy athleticism. And his body shape...Some of the stuff I'm seeing kind of reminds me of Paul Pierce.

Tatum. Brown. Pierce.

It almost makes too much sense.

Only downside is he just turned 23 so he's old. I don't care though, I'm taking him in the 2nd round.

Read on Twitter

He's 6'8", 250 lbs and shooting 42% from 3 with 2.4 blocks % and 2.3 steals %.

"Tough" game today for Wembanyama with just 16 points (on 7 shots), 9 boards and 3 blocks. He also snapped his streak of 28 straight makes from the free throw line so he is down to 80% for the year. Shooting 39% from three.

We should petition Adam Silver to just save everybody some time and start the draft at #2.

Still amazes me to this day with the popularity of basketball and the numerous avenues to be developed and all the leagues around the world, we can't get at least 30 stars in one draft class.

Actually stunning.

Edey had 32 and 17 today. I watched that game. He missed a lot of close shots but still had a really good game, including the game winning shot.

Edey's conditioning looks really improved from last year. He is like Kornet, expect bigger and a lot strong, especially in the lower body. Edey also had really good footwork down in the block and has a nice touch when he isn't rushing his shot. He doesn't have 3 point range like Kornet, but he is a good FT shooter at 75%.

Because they have to play each other. It's like how, no matter how popular chess has gotten world wide, there's still only 10 people in the top 10.
