Yep it's a big part of it. I honestly think he lost the team this year and they don't want to play for him anymore as well.
Small ball is a gimmicky scheme that works when the talent level is above most teams (Warriors). But the Heat does not have the better talent most nights, but keeps trying to make teams adjust to them instead of adjusting to the other team’s personnel on the floor with taller players.
The Heat never considered Zeller and Bam together to counter Toronto’s Siakam and Precious, so they got destroyed at the board. Nothing new, it’s been happening all season. Absolutely no adjustment from this coach.
Precious is not that tall. Both he and Siakam are the same size as Bam, Siakam may actually be shorter. Zeller is 7 foot.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Bam is actually a big part of the reason why we play small. He can't be a 4 because he can't shoot. And there aren't very many taller bigs to pair with him that can.
The problem is also that Bam is not elite at the other big man stuff too, like rebounding and blocking shots. So we end up with probs all around.
His ability to switch on D is literally THE thing that he provides on defense.
