If this number is true, this is the only scenario where a renegotiate and extend makes sense. Really was nervous about giving him 40+ a year, but 30 a season is a very reasonable number and realistically probably where he belongs.

It’s annoying but it’s the nature of the game.
I still think the Kings can nab one of the bigger FAs this summer.
It’s almost hard to believe the Kings will be caught empty handed after all of the cap space they have right now. I’m almost sure that there is going to be a player out there will say “I want to be apart of that” after what the Kings accomplish last season.

I'm sure Monte had his guy tied up prior to making all that cap space. It's looking more and more likely it's Kuzma. I don't view him as a major FA. But nonetheless, he would be in the top few FAs to ever sign in Sacramento and might just be a good way of building Sacramento's reputation as a destination.

If Monte gets that done and also signs a difference maker, the next decision would be, what do you build his statue out of?

Re: 2023 Off-season Thread
Wanted to just put out there the brilliance of what Monte did on draft night. He saw Colby available early in the 2nd and even liked him @ 24 so essentially got one of his guys, got off Holmes for #38/'24 Dallas 2nd, all the while getting even more cap space than what he would have given the #24 cap hold of $2m+ and no cap hold for 2nd rounders.
The thing I'm not sure about is whether Holmes' trade bonus comes out of the Kings' cap space or it can just be paid. I'm leaning toward the former.

Starting to think this is the most likely outcome tbh. Resign Sabonis, sign Kuzma, resign Lyles, sign Sasha, and then go after a cheap backup center and 3rd string pg. Interested to see what backup center we go after.
Plumlee is most similar to Sabonis, but has the same issues of not being a rim protector. Biyombo brings interior defense, but offensively does nothing Monte/Brown want. It's such an ugly class of backup free agent centers, makes you realize that everyone struggled there last season. I would like to chase Omer Yurtseven & Kendrick Nunn and just see what happens.
Sabonis/Yurtseven/Queta
Kuzma/Lyles
Murray/Sasha/Edwards
Huerter/Monk/Colby
Fox/Mitchell/Nunn
2way - Slawson, Keon Ellis
One open roster spot for flexibility

Thanks for sharing that just in case.
But I wouldn't make a big deal out of it.

Think Yurtseven might be a sneaky good add. Good one. Wonder if the ankle is healed now.

To me it feels like a sincere basketball take while also being respectful to the Kings. No disrespect, Kuz has the dynasty Dubs over beamteam. If he said the Kings are overrated then I'd say disrespect and go play somewhere elseBoogieTime wrote:I don’t let much slide, so is

Re: 2023 Off-season Thread
Okay. What if these Windy rumors are about Mitchell. Just going to copy and paste the General board post.
Keegan/3 x unprotected 1sts for Mitchell (26/28/30)
Keegan/Heurter x 2 unprotected 1sts for Mitchell (26/28)
I have small guard combos, but the Kings need a guy that can take over early in games and that's what Mitchell does.
The first trade leaves roughly $6-8m in cap space
The latter leaves roughly $20m in cap space to fill out the SF position.
Fox/Mitchell/Dozier
Mitchell/Monk/Jones
$20m FA?/Edwards

Sabonis/

Man, Vlade should have drafted Fox, Mitchell, and Kuzma like I suggested *shameless brag*

I would take correcting the other stuff up over Mitchell/Kuzma.

So a little rumor here and there about a star and you’ve got the Kings variations lined up..
I think we are far away from him being on the market, but Keegan and a few unprotected would be fine

I would be shocked, as would most Kings fans. It lessens the cred of Fischer’s Kuzma take for me

Well, you have to be flexible and onto it. It's what Monte has been waiting for.
Monte may not even like Mitchell as a player, who knows? But not only is Mitchell a superstar, he isn't on a $50m a year contract like most are so it keeps flexibility.
Absolutely Mitchell might not be on the market. Heck the rumor could just be about Allen, which I wouldn't be surprised as, even though he isn't overpaid, that roster is going to get expensive really quick.
Front offices are doing their math early for this new CBA so expect some fireworks this off season. I think it's next off season where it gets difficult for some teams to trade 1st round picks. I have to research more into this from the CBA, but that is what this new CBA is going to do, limit the high spending teams, so when a star does become available, the amount of picks used may decrease after this off season.
That in itself is worth a discussion when trading 1st rounders.

I have not previously been a Kuzma fan.
But the more I see about where he rates overall both offensively and defensively, the more I warm up to the idea of him coming here to fill out the lineup.
