.no it doesn't, because when you watch the games, you see the gravity that GD accounts for, which in turns, opens up lanes for his teammates,. Again, I'm not sure why everyone is looking for perfection from all 15 guys for 47mins & 82 games, ya fav team don't carry those expectations

We also don't need to bend the truth.

There have been PLENTY of games this year where JKW looks like he should be in the Gleague and 100% been an issue on the floor contributing to the minuses. He has played better lately.

Gradey's first 20 games of the season he was only a minus in 2 of those games and were both a -2.

Ironically it's only since the RJ injury and having Gradey and Walter out at the same time where we would get caved.

But anyways, this thread is about MO. Hope he plays tonight and keeps it simple and he gets a few lob dunks.

It would be fun to beat the team that drafted him 6th overall.

Take Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol off the 2019 team and put Scottie at center. Do we beat the Sixers? I think healthy Embid destroys him.

Is this a serious question? We get destroyed by the Sixers without Gasol/Ibaka.

I’d go even further and say we get destroyed by the Sixers without Gasol.

I don’t see GD providing much gravity at all tbh. Teams seem to not really be worried about him at all.

literally not true in the slightest, he is in teams scouting reports lol

Decent rebounder + shot blocker, but overall I have pretty low expectations for Mo

This doesn’t tell us anything, especially since like we already said Dick is a lot more sheltered than JKW is.

Matchups matter, and Dick certainly gets a lot easier of them.

Not to mention, dive deeper into the #’s and you can see teams are shooting 28% from 3 when Dick plays. We all know Dick is not locking down 3 point shooters. It’s just a weird statistical anomaly in Dicks minutes for the most part.

i'm just providing stats. i'm not savvy enough to know why the stats are the way they are but it's tough to marginalize gradey's contributions when almost all the stats say we perform better as a team while he's out there despite him missing shots.

Yeah, but that's why stats can be misleading: numbers always look like they tell us something important; we're just wired that way nowadays. To judge if they're really meaningful it's always important to look at what the numbers don't tell us. In this case, for example, they don't tell us the opponent lineups those player combinations played against. Maybe JKW is always the first to come off the bench, and relatively early compared to when opposing teams make substitutions? In that case, Gradey consistently plays against weaker opposition. "Providing stats" in isolation can lead you astray as much as it can provide meaningful information.

Btw I'm not saying JKW has been better than Gradey, or has the higher upside. It feels like he's been better, but ultimately I don't know enough about Basketball to judge that so I'll leave it to the professionals.

For Bamba to succeed his role needs to be real simple. We don't need to ask the world of him. Just rebound, set screens, finish at the basket, take open 3s and use his size on defense. If he gives us 5 points 5 rebounds and a block in limited minutes I'd be very pleased. We just need a C man.

I can tell you right now, teams aren’t worried about Gradey Dick. If you lose to Dick you just shrug your shoulders and move on.

He had multiple open 3’s last night. If teams were worried about him, he wouldn’t have had those looks.

I'll be happy with 4/4 and a block. Use up the fouls too.

Regardless of whether Poeltl is healthy or not, they need another big who can defend at the rim. I don’t think this means Poeltl is out long term. We have had too many injuries to bigs already. Bamba’s simple presence on the court will allow the Raptors to not have to overhelp in the paint, and give up easy rebounds. This alone will put this team in a better place than they had been for the last few weeks.

If it works out as a bench player then great, if not, they will need to figure out a trade

Him in the paint on D, even if no blocks, I hope you see opponents think twice about their shot inside. Even a hesitation could be enough for Barnes to get over for a help defense block.

Crazy how "in theory", he could bring a whole bunch which we are missing:

Paint deterrent
Lob threat
Screen setter
Size inside
3pt shooting

You can't teach height.

My family saw him at a game in Florida. The Magic were really promoting him; they gave us some inflatable tubes with the word "Bam" printed on it.(we were seated behind a basket)

The idea was to use them to make noise by slapping them together and yelling "Bam, Bam" to disrupt free throw shooters. (Flintstones reference?)

We got our Maluach. Didn't even have to draft him.

But his defensive figures were always really freaking good.

Alcoholism was part of the problem, but injuries is what really derailed his career. I liked Lucas, when he was engaged and confident he was quite good, as you said.

His legendary game was a road game against Portland, when our regular Cs were out. It was an amazing game during the Raps' pre-Kawhi prime period. We held them to like one FG in the second quarter. And Bebe was a revelation. Maybe playing in Bill Walton's former haunt inspired him.

Wild to remember such a specific Bebe detail but I’m all here for it

Koloko recently signed a 10 day with Memphis. I wonder if we made any attempts at him before pivoting to Bamba.

Considering 10-days can only be given out due to hardship exceptions right now, I would actually guess interest was pretty low league wide, if he couldn't even get a non-guaranteed deal anywhere before the January 10 guarantee deadline.

hopefully darko uses him as a "break glass in case of emergency" player and he's not in the main rotation. he's slow-footed, slow to react and plays with a glaring lack of physicality.

imo it's just a band-aid signing while bobby works on a more permanent solution.

you can say those things, but they're not true. He is in fact in teams scouting reports, there's plenty of plays where I can show you where the defender has his back to the ball, or doesn't rotate over to be the low man because his duty is to cover GD at the 3pt line. If GD is open it's because he hustled to get open, or the defense broke down, or our played worked for him to be open.
