Maybe I do underrate him, I just don't think playing good for one month out of four deserves an all star bid....

Especially when the guy is in a contract year, and that just so happens to be his breakout year.

Well, the season is only 3 months old. Calderon has played well since day one, and his increased production isn't due to a contract year, it's due to the fact that he's starting. He's played well as a starter, and a reserve.

Basically it is between Rip and Calderon for the last spot, with Jamison getting the other extra spot, and they have a similar impact on their teams. Rip is just a good a shooting guard as Calderon is a point guard and plays for a superior team, and if they are dead equal, the player who plays for the better team always and rightfully so, gets the nod.

I hope you were referring to Rip when you mentioned a superior team.
I'm now hoping for: Billups/Johnson/Butler/Jamison/Bosh/Pierce/Hamilton. Neither Calderon nor Turkoglu should make it over Hamilton. If they're worried about an extra PG making the roster, consider that Kidd and Billups are as pure as it gets and Wade/Lebron/Johnson have experience at the 1. If they, for some reason, desire a SF, Lebron/Johnson/Butler/Jamison/Pierce/Garnett can play the position in a pinch.

Right now, the way is playing, he is the third best point guard in the east, no doubt about it.

Whether he is making the allstar or not is a different matter. Not always the better player does.

That's cool, no problem. He will probably surprise you, the guy is still getting better. I understand you wanting to see the performance for a couple of seasons, and earn your respect.

Per minute, he's putting up almost identical numbers this year and last. Better three point shooting, better assist/TO, otherwise the same production.

JJ was a big surprise IMO, but i think he deserved it.

I like JJ over Calderon, but not over Hedo.

Remember, though, that it is extremely likely that at least one player will sit out due to injury, maybe more. Hedo and Calderon may yet make the team.
