Re: The Trade Thread
I think we should cash in everyone but Drummond and Smith for Melo and Rondo.
Pistons in: Melo, Rondo, Shumpert, Courtney Lee, Cole Aldirch
Knicks in: Monroe, Stuckey, CV31, Siva
Celtics in: Jennings, KCP, Singler
Rondo/Billups/Bynum
Shumpert/Lee
Melo/Datome
Smith/Jerebko/Mitchell
Drummond/Aldrich/Harrelson
We should make the 5th starter next to Drummond-Melo-Smith-Rondo a reality show so Melo, Rondo & Drummond feel "Hollywood" enough to resign. Melo, Rondo and Smith all went to Oak Hill as well.

Celtics would not do that.

That lineup has so much ego but the entertainment value is ridiculous. Pipe dream though.

Re: The Trade Thread
Bolster the bench and balance the starting lineup.
Charlie V for Mayo.
They clear up that mistake and continue to tank.
Josh/Bynum/Jonas for Green/bogans/humphries
They get out of Bogans bad contract, while also getting the perfect compliment to Sullinger.
SL:
Jennings
KCP
Green
Monroe
Drummond
Bench:
Stuckey
Mayo
Singler
Humphries
Harrelson

Win. Id take stuckey long term over mayo but i assume you let the stuck walk after this year, in that case mayo should suffice.

Re: The Trade Thread
There's a rumor that the Bulls are looking to dump Deng to the Cavs for Bynum, just to waive Bynum and get under the luxury tax.
Could we offer up CV to them instead?
If they waive Bynum it will still cost them 6 mil to buy him out. It would cost them 2.5 mil more to buy out CV, but that doesn't seem like a dealbreaker of a difference. I'm not sure how that affects their tax situation, but if they can't get a deal done for Bynum, perhaps they would be interested in CV instead.

Re: The Trade Thread
ah, nevermind. I think the reason the Bynum trade works for them is because his current salary is actually 12 mil, so they can trade him straight up for Deng, but then his contract is only partially guaranteed so it would only cost them 6 mil to waive him, reducing their cap by about 8 mil I think in the end, by 20 mil if you incl money saved in taxes.
With CV though we wouldn't be able to straight trade him at only 8.5 mil, and would need to include other salary to match. In which case the Bulls would end up in the same situation as just keeping Deng, with 14 mil in expiring contracts that they can't clear from the cap until the summer.
So I guess that won't work.

We could trade CV ($8,580,000) + KCP ($2,653,000) for Deng ($14,275,000) which would shed about $3 million off Chicago's tax bill for them.
Beyond that we'd have to make it a much larger traded to take back both Boozer and Deng to get them under the cap with them taking back Stuck and CV + other pieces).

Re: The Trade Thread
Honestly Rondo + green would be ideal, moose, jennings, stuckey and a 1st round pick for rondo and green.
Maybe you can avoid giving the pick by adding cv and taking wallace back, although that isn't favorable.
Our starting 5:
Rondo
KCP
Green
Smith
Drummond
Boston does it to wipe the slate clean and begin the tank. They can add a pick or unload Wallace and get a good young player in moose who would be their only major contract at ~13 million a year; jennings becomes an expiring after next year and he would lead the tank with pride.
Unfortunate we killed Monroe's value, and I'm not sold Boston is unloading Rondo. Maybe if the price is right.

Smith and CV for Rudy Gay? Not ideal but it solves our positional troubles and the Kings might jump on the idea of having a Smith/Boogie front court

A very subpar raptors team is 9-3 w/o him. Wouldn't go near him unless you want to tank.

If we want to erase our mistake we might as well.. Gay only has 2 years left on his deal and he's a better for than smith. Regardless of how Toronto is doing he'd be better here than josh

He was already traded. I don't think Sacramento is looking to flip him after 10 games or so.
Additionally, Sacramento isn't allowed to trade him until the summer, I believe. Even then, that's only if he opts-in to the last year of his deal.

I like Gay in Sacramento as that is exactly what they needed over there. I doubt they move him.

I don't want Gay, but I think we can trade for him ala Sheed?

Joe, please. You can save your job and make me happy. Trade josh for Jeff Green. Add the pieces outside of KCP, Monroe, Drummond, Singler to make it work. They need a pg so throw in Bynum.
Green is literally the perfect fit. He hits the 3 and plays great D.

At this point the chances of smith being moved are nil.
I myself have been proposing deals and scenarios where he goes but its very very very highly unlikely he gets moved.
1. Joe D wud have to admit his mistake and decide to move him - which he wont because thats his prize, and he probably still likes the move.
2. Another team will have to want josh smith, and im not sure anybody wants anything to do with him except joe dumars and maybe the rockets.

Call up Sacto and see if they want Smoove. Hell they took Gay and are "swinging for the fences" -
Smith and Harrelson for Jason Thompson and Marcus Thornton works according to the trade checker.

I would if we had a different GM. But we would once again be trusting Dumars with a ton of money again in another year while also not having Monroe anymore.
