Paul Pierce was primarily defended by Patrick Patterson and Amir Johnson throughout the game. He had success against Patrick Patterson going 3-for-5 from the floor and 1-for-1 from three.

In his first career playoff game, Jonas Valanciunas was able to find score successfully versus the experienced Kevin Garnett, shooting 4-of-7 from the field for eight points. Williams and Livingston were able to penetrate against Greivis Vasquez, recording five and three drives, respectively, when matched up with Vasquez. Image

So wait weren't people crucifying DeMar's D on JJ yesterday, stats tell a different story.

I swear, this dude is addicted to long ******* 2's. I hope Game 1 was a wake up call, drive in draw the foul and finish :banghead:

Sigh ya barreling your way through 3 defenders is how he's going to play better

What needs to be done is to give DeMar the ball on the move and let Lowry handle the ball more. Our bigs need to set solid screens and DeMar needs to get the ball off those screens for clean looks. We can't use the dribble handoff anymore since they'll double him in the corner.

Demar needs to drop the ball off to the big that is setting the pick - the Nets always trap him but unlike the great players in the League (namely Durant when he gets trapped and drops it off to Serge), Demar was holding the ball - that is why he struggled. He was trying to do too much

Had he created for his team mates, the Nets would probably take their chances with Demar's long twos but they didnt need to make an adjustment because the ball stuck. When the ball sticks, turnovers happen and it breeds selfish play.

lol, I don't blame him, he must have been pissed off at his poor play. I remember Kobe shooting for like 3 hours after he lost a game to the heat, ON Miami Heat's home court
He should have just reviewed Drew League tape.

Casey needs to play Hansborough more - enough with Hayes!

This is not the series for a Chuck Hayes. Casey struggled as much as DeRozen with his rotations and his in-game adjustments - I dont understand why he doesnt adjust to Joe Johnson (take away that PnR with JJ and force the Nets to beat you a different way)

Kobe work ethic

He was in a room, by himself? Thought about going to the gym? Potential to be the greatest!

I wish the Entire team had a secret practice at 2am - 4am. No reporters after the game

Sleep in,

then have a afternoon/night practice 5pm - 7pm On the actual ACC floor, instead of the practice court. Have the speakers blaring with crowd noise (make it louder than it was in game 1) Get the team comfortable with a loud arena. Run a lot of plays where DeMar and Ross has to handle the ball to get them comfortable.

Let the defense have 6 guys on the floor just to make it difficult on the offense.

Who ever has the ball can be doubled, and everyone else has single coverage. Get the ball handler used to the pressure.

then when game 2 starts, it won't feel as suffocating.

When the pick was set they'd double but Garnett stunted the roll man cutting down DeMar's options. If DD made the pass to the roll man Garnett was right there to deflect the pass. For DeMar he has to anticipate the double team and the pass to the point has to be quick and accurate. After that some one is bound to open for a quick hitter.

This is why passing him the ball on the move will open things up for him and he'd have an easier time finding open teammates.

From Nets Board

Ridiculous.

You would think they would pay a little more attention to the NBA playoffs, specifically to the one NY team that's actually in the NBA playoffs.

Even yesterday on ESPN radio they were always sneaking in Knicks discussion.

The Nets have a long way to go in this area, sadly.

They only brought Hayes in to spell JV since he was gassed.

This game also highlights our need for a backup C next season.

I'm not a believer in DeRozen's game and I knew he would get exposed during the playoffs but I'll I'm asking for him to do is (a) move the ball when he gets trapped on the PnR {which is everytime} and (b) battle Joe Johnson for positioning on the defensive side of the ball! He's not the smartest player and he is lazy :banghead:

But we need him to play better and if we lose game 2 - it's over

Hmm. Why didn't he bring in Hansborough instead of Hayes? I remember seeing Hayes throw up an awkward floater which he missed and the Nets sagged off of him hard! Hansborough should relieve JV while PP relieves Amir

Getting DD the ball on the move isnt going to make much of a difference he DD doesnt make quicker decisions.

And I disagree with you - the pass was open on those times he got trapped (watch the game again). It appeared DD was expecting them to show a double and retreat but the Net's game plan was to get the ball out of his hands while DeRozen was trying to force a big game out of himself. He should keep the game simple - pass, defend and attack the rim. Nothing more.

That I'm not sure of but I'm guessing that Casey put Hayes in because he's a better communicator on D compared to Hansbrough.
