At the pro level that won’t work. An for Edwards, even at the collegiate level, you see him take a ton of pull up jumpers (thus the poor shooting percentages) because he simply doesn’t have craft to attack the rim.
I’m watching the second half of the UGA/MSU game where Edwards went for 33 in the half. Even here, he’s not attacking. He’s pulling up for very difficult shots. In this half they go in so it looks great. But for the season, those shots didn’t go in often (29% from three).
Im not saying he can’t improve and become a star. I’m actually not concerned about his skill level. I just don’t know how often players that show such low motor develop that at the NBA level.
I don’t agree with this. Wiggins was all downhill in his drives, but Edwards has the ability to change direction and dribble in traffic. Now, he can tighten it up a bit more, but he’s a much better ball handler than Wiggins was at this stage. I see people constantly trying to compare the two and they are vastly different. Edwards is not afraid of contact for one, and he’s already a better passer.
posted a bit back that Jaylen Brown at Cal is better comp than Wig at Kansas in terms of Edwards play style, team situation
but I'm not confident Wolves have organization, team leaders, coach for the buy-in needed to break the bad habits for Edwards like Boston did with Brown
