Has anyone seen batting practices? He used to put on a show. Wondered if he isn't even hitting at batting practice.
And has anyone looked at batted ball velocities and launch angles?

Exit velocity is the worst of his career and the launch angle is one of the worst and total **** overall.

I recall some 109mph exit velocity hits that went for a double. I guess those were rare.

Sounds like Burnes will NOT be starting tomorrow.

The Braves are a bit worse, as a team, against lefties. And Lauer has been one of our best pitchers in the second half. And has Burnes ever pitched on short rest?
And none of that will matter if they can't score some runs.

Yelch needs to go to the desert and eat a bunch of peyote to reset his mind this winter. He can bring Keston and Bradley with him. It crazy how they've just seemingly lost all ability to hit.

Not making excuses for him, but still will be curious to see if he ends up having surgery this offseason and we hear he's been playing with some nagging injury (back) all year that was more serious than let on.

but if that's so, why didn't they sit him more? It's not like Taylor was terrible.

If it's the back (which it absolutely could be) I get trying to do everything possible to avoid surgery. But we've reached a point where he needs to figure out what the problem is and fix it any way possible.

The 20/20st of hindsight I think I've ever seen posted on the internet.

I was thinking this in real time so, it wasn't hindsight, just a late post :D

I personally would have kept Freddie in but I completely understand why Counsell pinch hit him there. But none of that matters if the offense can't score even when basically gifted a free run. To get zero runs with guys on 2nd and 3rd with no outs is just absolutely pathetic. And it's not like the Braves' pitching has been lights out either. This is historic levels of offensive ineptitude in clutch situations.

Interesting diverging strategies with the Braves sending 37 year old Morton out there on short rest but Counsell not willing to make that move with Burnes.

Well, I don't really have an opinion personally on the decisions, but for Morton it is probably, "who cares, I have a contract extension for next year and my career is almost over. I want to win." vs. "Burnes is our franchise for 3 more years after this" and Burnes himself is probably eyeing up a $300 million contract someday and wants to keep his arm in good order.

I think there's also something to be said for the idea that if the offense doesn't get going, it doesn't matter who is out there. If by some miracle they win this afternoon, the Brewers will be heading home and have their #1 on a normal amount of rest.

Please just score some **** runs.

Burnes is obviously awesome, but Lauer was as good any pitcher in baseball in the second half, especially September (3-0, 1.15 ERA, .133 BAA). Maybe Layer gets lit up, but I can't fault Counsell for running him out there.

I have no issue starting Lauer today. As others have said he's been great for months now.

It's funny with this team I wouldn't be surprised it the got no hit today or scored like 20 runs the next two games.

You still have to win two games, Id rather have Corbin ready to deal in the game 5 if they win today.

Oh trust me...if he gives up 3 runs in 4 innings, he'll be faulted.

I don't care a huge amount either way, but I guess in theory Burnes on short rest today + Woodruff fully rested game 5 is probably the completely ideal way to go about it but it's not a major difference because as you say, you need to win 2...so Burnes has to pitch one of them.
