Philly... Harris, Simmons, Seth, Matisse
That Toronto trade is not realistic. Masai would never agree to that.
The Sacramento and Indiana deals include players that are not as good as Simmons.
Simmons is better than Brogdon, Haliburton, Turner, Hield, and Barnes.
You are massively underrating Simmons' impact, especially playing under his idol James.

Sure... How? Who can afford to take $45M/yr in trade other than Houston? Because no.

I'm not that high on Grant. Apparently he doesn't want to regress to his earlier career role of a defensive guy who doesn't get plays ran for him. And he wants a 120 mil extension in the summer which is way to much for the impact(or lack of thereof)he has on winning basketball games.
He's happy playing in a losing environment as long as he gets his shots. I don't trust guys with that mentality.
THT for Kelly Olynyk. Scrappy defender for a white dude, can pass, rebound and shoot.
He's a 4 in every other era, but the perfect 5 man IMO for a team that has Westbrook, Lebron and Davis on it. You need spacers, not other non shooters on the floor. And Kelly's amongst the best of em from the C position.

Re: Trade Ideas thread
I really wish I could climb inside ADs head and see what's going on in there... If he's pissed that people no longer talk about him as one of the best bigs in the NBA... If he's taking it personal that no one is intimidated by him anymore... And he's busting his ass to get in shape and eating himself alive to get back on the court... Then maybe we're OK with the roster we have...
I mean around a healthy and motivated AD and LeBron, we should now have enough shooters, a pretty good assortment of defenders... And Westbrook...
If AD is right, we're probably right....
But if none of that is going on in that head of his, then there's no trade that doesn't involve him, that I can see making any lasting difference on this team... There's no quick-fix this season that might get us everything we need to win...
And with Westbrook on the payroll, along with AD and LeBron, there is no opportunity to improve in the offseason that might hide the pervasive structural problems with this roster...
Based on everything I've seen... I think the AD temperature gauge is telling us, "Blow it UP!"

Simple fix... Bench Russ & trade THT & Dunn for a defensive combo guard like Smart, Duarte or Hield & go to work... Team will have better balance, better shooters, more length, more activity and be more efficient... I would personally start Howard but I like traditional stating lineups & Vogel is clearly on another page...
Lakers Lineup:
PG: Smart (6'4")
SG: Monk (6'5")
SF: Reaves (6'6")
PF: LBJ (6'8")
C: AD (6'11")
Reserves: Bradley, Melo, Ariza & Howard...

None of these guys are better than Simmons. Most, if not all, are not better than Harris.
Face it. Simmons is damn good. He has a big wart (shooting), but he's elite in every other aspect (except maybe mental toughness).
You trade Davis for him because you bank on the idea that he will go from really good to great under the tutelage of LeBron James.
If he never grows the cajones to shoot playing with James, it will still work. Why? Because Simmons will be surrounded by shooters and given the green light. In other words, he will be told that this is his team. James will afford him the same opportunity that he afforded Davis.
Simmons, in my opinion, is more up to the challenge than Davis. Right now, in this moment, he is primed to move into superstardom. He just needs the right situation, and the Lakers are primed for a major shakeup.

AD doesn't take it personal, and that's precisely what his problem is. Every time he goes up against an elite player at his position like Giannis, Embiid, KAT or whoever, he plays like he is playing pick up in the park. He is the laid back dude who is content with being good enough, not always striving for greatness. He came here with a lot to prove and delivered in year one, but then fell off a cliff the second we won that championship because he didn't want to deal with the grind of being a great. Guys like Kobe and LeBron aren't just talented, they worked their asses off, waking up at 3 in the morning, and build their entire life around basketball, to turn their physical gifts into legendary careers. AD, on the other hand, just wants to chill and coast on his talent. To me, he is the type of guy you want to get rid of one year too early rather than one year too late. Even though he is still young (relatively speaking), another injury riddled year from him could easily plummet him from superstar status to bad contract territory.

I still believe in Davis. I think he has the potential to be one of the best number twos of all-time.
That being said, with the horrible Westbrook trade there comes a price, and that price might have to be Davis.
At this point, if they can get back real talent for Davis with Westbrook attached, you just gotta do it.

We are not making the PO’s with this suggested team. Though, we not make the PO’s anyway.

I really agree with a lot of this,. Especially the bolded.
Regarding what's in AD's head, we could obviously only guess... I do think he was less motivated last year by winning a championship and potentially due to some events in his personal life (he was getting married I believe and having a second child). He has always seemed more like a 20something kid vs a ultimate basketball professional like Kobe/Lebron etc, and I could easily see him losing focus due to success or personal life. Because of that, I could also see him "taking it personal" as you said in a situation like this, and I don't believe any of his injuries have affected his athleticism to the point of serious decline. A motivated AD who is in shape can be as good the 2020 AD, and I sincerely do believe that our best chance at contending for this year and the immediate future is if we have that version of AD back.
I share your same concerns and agree that the AD temperature gauge is leaning towards blow it up. and that leads me to my second point....if we are trading AD, we might as well blow it up.
I would still roll the dice on AD, but I admit that things aren't looking good right now if our only hope is betting on AD.

Lebron playing in the post with Harden feeding him the ball would be pretty good.

Their games are almost identical, in terms of the way they are not known as perimeter shooters and like to attack the basket. There is value in this type of player, but I'm not sure if a team would want two of them. We currently have 4 players that like to attack the basket in LB, AD, WB, and THT. In 2006, this would certainly not be a problem, but it is now in the way that the game has changed.

THT+SRPs for a starting calibre 3+D SF/PF is the only thing that can be done.
Nunn and Davis coming back is essential. Lakers will be a contender if all healthy.
This is the 11-man rotation of the contender:
Nunn, Westbrook, 3+D SF/PF, LeBron, Davis -- Monk, Reaves, Ariza, Johnson, Melo, Howard
