I'll forever be pissed at the current FO for putting personal interests over the obvious Haliburton pick and the Knicks franchise.

Two 2nd rounders? At least they're doing right by the CAA.

Blame it on Randle. Had that crap season, so they expected another crap season, so they drafted Obi...

I hope they learn something from this though. They did well with the late picks but when comes to the top tens they seem falter.

Not Randle's fault one way or another.

You don't draft a PF when you already have a 26 year old one who puts up 20 & 10.

It was messy and terrible asset management.. and it seems the CAA puts its own interests and clients ahead of the team. Can't have that in a serious FO.

Let agents and their agencies operate in their sphere....and let real basketball guys construct teams without obligation to appease their gangs and family.

Not really sure how he earned it. People still want Randle traded, and Obi continually outplayed Randle. People said Obi was better than Randle, which still can be true.

He was wrong, he's been wrong. He's only celebrating because his boy Randle doesn't have a better player behind him anymore.

In what world did obi outplay our 2nd team all nba pf?

This is what some of you do. You delusionally hype up our trash youth.

It's the same sht with frank. He wasn't used right. Once he gets trade you will all see. See what? He still sucked and never amounted to sht.

Obi is a trash defender and rebounder and can't create on his own.

Sure he'll get some easy buckets from Hali and might even post some nice counting scoring stats. But he is food on defense and can't rebound and sucks at spacing the floor and cant create offense. That boy is trash.

Talking about in the playoffs.

Also his 'bad D' stuff is overblown and just repeated since he was drafted. Stats say he is an average to good defender, and the eye test also shows that. Obi consistently made good plays defensively in the paint.

Obi showed a lot when given the time to show it. He just never got the time because Thibs loves Randle and hated Obi. Obi was right to yell at Thibs after game 4.

Randle is nothing but a stat padding loser who can't handle the big moment and crumbles come playoff time, completely unreliable, lazy and a bad teammate.

Should've just traded Randle away that offseason and moved on.

What's crazy is, I won't even be surprised if he does. I mean who's going to guard him? Randle?

We traded a guy and so far, don't even have a replacement on the horizon.

Eh. He’s gonna burn us like Frank did. Or Knox. Or Reddish. It was a bad pick.

100% agree. if randle had the same seasons elsewhere he did here, i wouldn't be jealous since we'd probably have a fast team that moved the ball and still woulda got brunson

He's going to be good with them. They play up tempo and when they're in the halfcourt it'll be Obi that is used as the rollman. He was traded to the best place possible for him with a floor spacing C and a passing PG.

you're missing the point. is he gonna be anything close to as good as the guy drafted after him that's already on that team ? no

Whatever stats say he is a good defender need to be put in the trash. In no way is or has obi been a good defender.

Obi is fine as a back up in limited mins as a roll man and uptempo offense. He is extremely limited in everything else he does. He will not be missed.

If he puts up numbers we're going to be called out, it doesn't matter to the Pacers (or media) if he was drafted before Haliburton, all that matters is can he produce. It'll be LOLKnicks gave a conference rival a starting PF.

Most of y'all were calling him Frankinburton too

My issue is more with the haul. Obi was was worth more than 2 2nd rounders. I’d say 1st round but outside of the lottery.

its likely the best we couldve gotten for him. i doubt anyone was really interested in him after seeing how unplayable he was against the heat. he looked like he didnt belong lol

Tbf, he shoots like he is flinging sht off his hands so Frankinburton was a pretty safe risk. Sham just didn't factor in his curse. So here we are a guy with the shooting form of a 4th grader getting paid a quarter of a billion dollars.

Exactly.

Since the ruse was "we really love Obi, he was our guy at #8 even if we had to move up!!!!" Then they should have stood by their conviction and traded Randle immediately and let Obi rock.

You want to sit on your hands and Randle ends up having an all NBA year? Okay great... then immediately trade Randle while his value is sky high or trade Obi while he's still a rookie with value.

They did the worst possible thing by not trading either ......then burying Obi until his contract is up.
