That is not so good for both Zach or DDR deals to happen quickly

That was always going to happen. He's a near-max guy and his option was less than $20M IIRC. The Knicks tried to get him for $35M, but he didn't want that. They gave up a lot for him and really have not choice but to max him because someone else likely will if they don't. I think the more interesting situation will come with Hartenstein vs. Robinson, and the fact that the Knicks are limited as to how much they can offer him where other teams can offer more.

The guy on the Knicks that I really want is Achuiwa. If we can shed enough $, he might be gettable for the MLE. Dude killed it for the Knicks last season when he got minutes. He rebounds, blocks shots and can defend the perimeter adequately, and is young.
Achuiwa would be a good get, I'd love him on the Bulls.

I think whoever pays OG, is gonna have to overpay. In the last 4 seasons, he's only played more than 65 games once. He's had health issues after starting his career relatively healthy. I've always looked at him as a solid piece to a team, but paying him $35+ is not gonna be good for whoever does it. However, because of what they gave up to get him, I think NY will be forced to max him. So I dont think it affects the DDR or Zach market (and now reports are saying Bulls are willing to try and fix that relationship).

Robinson also has injury issues, but them trying to ship him out to presumably resign Hartenstein, leave Achiuwa open to be nabbed. Who I'd also really like on the team.

Carter/Terry to Lakers for Vincent/17

Or make it a it bigger:

Vucevic/Carter/Bitim to Lakers for Hachimura/Vincent/17

Why would they give up 17 for Carter and Tery?

I could see the 2nd one though if they value Vuc enough, though I feel like they'd argue that Hachimura for him straight up is fair.

Yeah that's fair.

I'm just trying to think of trades the Bulls could do to get a second later pick and apparently the Lakers are open to trading their pick.

Welp, Mikal Bridges to the Knicks for 5 first round draft picks and a pick swap.

Wow. Go NY. That is going all in.

Wonder what that means for resigning OG and Hartenstein?

I still want us to nab Achuiwa...maybe this paves the way?

Can’t get even a 2nd round pick for Caruso while the Knicks send 17 unprotected firsts for Bridges.

WTH AK.

We need a better FO y’all.

Bulls fans are still overrating a typical thibs team . They will get high seed in the regular season . A couple of knicks player get injured in the playoffs and they lose in the second round again . I still don’t why thibs gets love on this board more than Phil jackson

Well if you were worried about signing an often-injured OG to a max deal, Bridges is the answer. Dude is an iron man.

They still can theoretically, and I imagine they still want to, but this sets them up nicely to move forward if he moves on.

Its a crazy amount of future picks but with a Thibs style team, they are always going to be a high seed (late 1st round position) in the foreseeable future. So, the thinking is they lose some late 1st round picks but they round out that roster with the perfect 3&D guy that knows the 3 amigos like no other and never gets hurt. He's 27 and owed less than 25 mil next two years. Do you really want to go pay Paul George 40-50 mil at age 34 as an option? I get their thinking. Its ballsy and a gamble but I can appreciate it.

Worse case they lose OG, they still can do:

Brunson
Dante D
Bridges/Hart
Randle/Bridges/Hart
Hartenstein/??

I like Bridges, but don't think he's worth going all-in for.

Plus, who was NY negotiating against? I know Houston offered picks for him in the past but that fell apart. There aren't many teams that could offer that many picks for him.

I really like NY's team, but that is an insane price for Bridges.
19 ppg 4 rpg 3 apg 43% FG 37% 3P
Not an all-nba defender.
Great team now, but damn that's the last move they'll make for 7 years.

What's even more insane is that if OKC didn't offer Giddey, NY would probably have had both Mikal & Caruso. They were the team offering 2 picks this year for AC. Neither of those picks were used in the Mikal trade, both could have happened.

That FO knows how to go all-in.
