I think we need to be prepared for that. Ironically, the OL may improve simply due to Banks leaving for a big payday. But other than DT, where we no longer even have a single starting-caliber player, center is almost certainly the biggest hole on this team. And we still don't seem to have an answer for when Trent finally hangs them up.
Membou is the only OL that makes sense at 11 for us tbh, other than that well have to dip in the 2nd/3rd days. Don't see why can't take like a Tate Ratledge in the 2nd and convert him to a C or something. There are some other OL that fit what Kyle likes, like RT Logan Brown.
but yea, were not gonna get Trent's heir apparent in this class and we should come to terms with that.
There are some interesting potential tackle-to-center converts, too. Zabel and Mbow have been mentioned in the second or third, Charles Grant or Carson Vinson later on.
What do you think about Milum at center, Clyde? Seems like he's kind of plummeting after the short arms, and I've seen him available in the third round of some mocks (ESPN has him as their 168th-ranked player). Seems like he'd be great value as a guy who could play all over the OL in a pinch, and could develop into a great interior player, though I'm not sure of his functional strength.
If we're going true center, really the only one I see potentially starting in year one (and even that is unlikely under Shanahan) is Jared Wilson. After that, Seth McLaughlin, Jonah Monheim, and Jake Majors seem like the draftable players, and I've seen them in every different ranking order imaginable, but wouldn't hold my breath on any to start right away, or even at all. And all three have really short arms, with Monheim and Majors in particular both below 30.5".
Honestly, Drew Kendall might rise up boards a bit. He's also undersized, but right in line with those other guys in terms of height and weight. His arms were 31.75", though, and he ran a good 40.
