Sounds like Miami gave him the bag to go there
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

Re: Badgers Football - Transfer SZN
It's just a freshman transferring and seems small...life will go on.
But I think this is the end of possible high-end success for Wisconsin.
We have no path of obtaining, keeping, and developing high-end talent. What's the point?

Contracts gotta be coming soon. Why even put time in high school recruiting and on roster development at this point?

It would be cool but it's going to have to be in the student/player's benefit for them to agree to contracts. It is not yet.

This is why I tune it at the beginning of the season now and just buckle-up knowing I need to learn basically a whole new roster. It feels pointless to follow, especially since it comes with all of the online discourse - good, bad, and nihilistic (looking at you, Kerb). I honestly don't know how you guys put yourselves through following it closely.

I haven't given a **** before this. I agree on 95% of the transfers I don't care or pay attention. QB is kind of important and that's it.
But this is major. The idea was that the roster was kind of barren of talent when Fickell took over...and that we don't have the money to buy too many great transfers. So fine - wait until 2026 when the young guys he recruited/kept age up.
Now we can't even count on that. I think it's over unless something drastically changes or I'm missing details here.

Just giving you a hard time with often you repeat 'it's the end of Wisconsin sports,' and this time literally just asked "What's the point?" which is obviously peak nihilism. I'm not saying you're right or wrong, just poking fun.

That's fine. And I get the joke/ribbing...but to be serious/give a comparison, the system we all know in baseball, where top markets buy up the best established talent already existed. We weren't buying major transfers.
But now we have found out that arbitration is shortened and big markets are allowed to poach the top of your farm system. There's no way to win anymore. Maybe this is a one-off, I don't know.

Jung on board. That’s a cool story.

Re: Lucas.
I (mostly) agree with Kerb. This sucks. We did everything right with this kid. Won the recruiting battle. Gave him early PT. Got him lined up for an assured starting spot in year 2. If you can’t keep a kid like that, who can you keep? This is like one of the best recruits we’ve brought in, in an huge position of need, and did right by him. Now he’s gone with no chance to replace him.
Only mitigating factor could be the CB coach. He’s lost (almost) the whole room. Most of those guys were meh. But it seems really strange that everyone would leave. If that’s the case, show his ass the door yesterday.

Re: Badgers Football - Transfer SZN
The CB room seemed to be a bunch of low-tier recruits mostly from Chryst that all transferred down. Lucas got big $ and a homecoming. Maybe the coach sucks but mostly meh here.

I’m fascinated to see if they’re filling depth with productive football players from lower levels or they are expecting guys like this to possibly play.
Once again, I’m now unsure whether Fickell is pivoting to a new strategy of productive low conference players, or we are entirely **** and are scrapping for whatever we can get at some positions. I once again lean toward the former, but I’m not 100% sure.

Hills was easily our best transfer last year.
Fourqurean probably the year before (not including Cincy transfers)
These guys can hit. Hit big in some cases (Watt). They certainly can also miss. I don’t mind the approach of productive smaller school guys who fit culturally (DOGS) and or have Wisconsin ties.

Re: Badgers Football - Transfer SZN
Yea, trying to unearth smaller school guys who want to play in the Big 10 at a power school is easily the way to go here. Sure, take a former top prospect if he wants a change of scenery. But I'm probably going to bet my money on a guy who's shown he can actually play.

Sure…and obviously we are kind of **** here either way and I support the strategy, some of these guys can be fringe NFL caliber players. I also imagine a guy who just played at Bethel trying to run with one of OSU’s WRs.

Obviously you don’t want to field a team of all Bethel guys. You want the bulk of the team to be the cream of your high school recruiting team, and only fill in as necessary with kids who overperformed their milieu to see if it translates.
Of course, if you can’t hang on to the cream of your recruiting classes it doesn’t matter. Which is why the above situation sucks so bad.

Re: Badgers Football - Transfer SZN
I trust him more than Gard to do that, but for whatever reason, Wisconsin wants to do things the "right" way, which is hilarious because it's different than 20 years ago when it felt more fair and you were avoiding possible punishment. Now it's just the norm.

Re: Badgers Football - Transfer SZN
No evidence that they want to do "the right thing" when a guy announces he's in the portal and less than 24 hours later announces he's going to Wisconsin. Badgers are playing the game too.

Got the Idaho WR. Seem to be bigger on the boundary for the new offense.
