If it was really about money, I have a hard time believing this is the right move. Luka brings in more revenue than 70m a year just from his star power alone

That "didn't want to pay supermax" phrase has been ridiculous here from day 1. They'll be paying 50 million a year to some "pretty ok basketball player" in no time. And it's very unlikely that AD is worth that 55-62 million a year as you can't really count on him being healthy for longer than a month at a time or so.

did he at least pull his underwear down first
i don't think he did. he forgot to and said "oops"
the moral of the story is "always pull down your underwear before you dump on someone"

I have no skin the game and like you I feel terrible for Mavs fans but I don't see how this can be anything but a win for the NBA as a product. Especially during Superbowl week where the trade deadline dominated sports segments and multi-sport analysts were spending a large amount of screen time discussing the NBA when the biggest football was set to be played at the end of the week.
You have Luka Doncic in a Lakers uniform and LeBron being able to spend the twilight of his career with a guy capable of taking over the reigns he's had over both the city and organization. Bron's even played with a extra pep in his step which I think he knew going into the Knicks game as even JJ seemed to be aware. The Lakers still dominate the league in regards to content and likewise with the number of national TV games, which should only grow as Luka actually starts playing. ESPN even flexed their schedule to air the Pacers/Lakers game on Saturday even though Luka and Bron sat.
I live in LA and don't consider myself a Laker hater. I enjoy when they are good, because it makes it more fun for the city and gives me a strong local team to watch live. I also tend to believe that it's better for the league when those storied franchises (Lakers, Celtics, Knicks, Bulls, etc.) are good. So maybe you're right, maybe this is ultimately better for the league -- but for whatever reason, I just hate it. The closest example I can cite to how this trade makes me feel is when the Sonics moved to Oklahoma. It makes me sad for the local fans, and it makes me sad for the NBA. There's just something incredibly unsettling about this entire thing.

The Bulls were a trash franchise with no storied history until MJ got there and made one.
Imagine, if in 1989, the Bulls trade MJ to the Lakers.
Because storied history, better for league. ??? Bulls never get any history.
It's wrong, it's not better for the league to have a concentration of power every decade.

Imagine saying that an MVP candidate averaging 28/8/8 while leading a team to the NBA finals has a poor work ethic
Doesn't say much about NBA basketball in general if that's the case if a guy that just chills and shows up can flat out dominate the entire league!
Stupidity has no bounds.
