My concern, as far as they go for a professional basketball team, is that the 2nd best player is a 40 year old, who is coming off of a core/groin injury, very much impinging his defense. Reaves, while intermittently is a very good offensive player, just isn't a very good defensive player. Hell, even the undisputed best player on the Lakers isn't a good defender. Defense wins championships may be trite phrase, but I still think it has merit. Obviously, you're talking about the future, given your last two lines. But, even you had caveats in "I think" and "hopefully". You may trust Pelinka more than I do.

this season was supposed to be a wash after the trade. To everyones surprise we got the 3rd seed. Next season is where expectations should be chip or bust. and that falls on Rob building a contending team around Luka.

Lebron has been great. Really he carried hard when AD went down and that is the biggest part of why we got the 3rd seed. I hate on Bron Bron a lot but i can also give him flowers.

if he can be the defensive captain and pick his spots on offense it would be great. He's clearly not 100%. That groin isn't gonna heal until off season.

I think he's got max 2 years more in him. The ideal thing would be him being a 3rd option focused on defense and rebounding. I dont think AR is on that level where he can mantle the 2nd option though.

LeBron will be 41 next season. Having 'chip or bust' expectations seems silly.

for the team? I dont think so. If Rob doesn't build this team right good chance Luka is gone. He has no time to be chilling on it. Team has glaring holes right now that needs to be adressed in the off season. Chip or bust isn't adressed to Lebron. It's adressed to Rob having pressure to deliver a proper roster.

If Lakers win this series then I think they come out of the West.

I don't think they beat Boston though but they have a chance

At least Javale was good in the first round of the bubble before getting played off the floor the later rounds. So far Hayes isn't even making it past game 1

The Lakers are now down to six players JJ trusts - and their starting center isn't one of them.

Luka /Lebron never seemed like a good 1-2 punch combo to me anyways that would ever work. Both guys cause stagnant offenses cause they are so slow and ball dominant and BOTH guys are defensively handicapped. The ball gets glued to them. One of them needs to go next year. Obviously Lebron since the dude is 40 and very much past it. Lakers needs to Giannes or Wemby or something to go with Luka somehow. Or even keep AD and try some moving parts/Draft picks if they wanted Luka so bad.

I don't know why anyone thought this was a winning ticket. Even if they miraculously get out of this round, they won't get through the next 2.

Rui is good but a team with two max forward types don't need 18m for another low volume forward. That space should go to any big not named Jaxson Hayes.

Wolves are a dumb low IQ team. Don't see them ever winning a chip. No brains at all. They would have to bring in a smart player like Irving or something to run the team correctly. ANT isn't lead dog material. Hes a 2nd fiddle guy

All the wolves do is hack on defense. They're better off blowing the team up while ANT still has value. Last year was just a FLUKE run. They can't even play D without fouling every 10 seconds

LeBron these last 2 games is playing so damn hard. Hardest he has ever played as a Laker. Don't see how this will be sustainable in the 2nd half at his age. And with Luka sick and clearly marginalized I don't have a good feeling about the 2nd half at all. Wolves are just relentless. They don't need to be good on offense to **** you up out there.

Hayes being trash right now just handcuffs them. This is the wrong kinda team to have to play center-less against.

Minnesota just puts so much pressure on every rebound. Lakers are size-challenged as it is and now have to deal with their tenacity. I don't know how this game is so close. Lakers look so out-talented out there.
