Surely not. That would mean them missing two games. I would think they'll be in uniform on Monday @Spurs

Yeah, I'm struggling to grasp this whole "Lopez starts" thing when Gortat is noticeably better and has been clamoring for minutes behind Dwight. He's also a CONSIDERABLY better rebounder, as others have noticed, and fits in reasonably well on offense, so there isn't a good reason to start anyone else at the 5.

OT, but seems many of you are almost writing off Childress or assigning him as the 11th man. The reason he hasn't been playing is because they've decided to give his finger the proper downtime to let it heal.

Josh is going to play a significant role in the Suns future ...well? That is If he isn't traded in the Suns next big trade that is coming before the deadline.

I'd like to see a Gortat/Frye starting 5/4.

I don't like losing J-Rich, but he was going to be an expensive free agent and we do have Duds and Childress and now Pietrus. So can someone explain the cap to me now? Vince has an 18 million team option for next year and a 4 mil buyout. We lose Turk's deal and we gain Pietrus' deal and Gortat's deal. So how much cap room for next year available?

Gortat is awesome i'm happy we got him, i still see us with too many wings.. if Roy keeps complaining in portland maybe we could trade carter and some others for him?

or trade our wings for a better sf like iggy or g-wallace.

or trade for someone like josh smith.

Thats the good thing about this trade extreme flexibility and no bad contracts to hold us down. (Carter expiring)

Assuming the cap stays close to 58mil;
9mil cap room if VC bought out and Pietrus opts out
4mil cap room if VC bought out and Pietrus opts in

So there's a chance we have even less cap space this summer than if we just let JRich expire. However, trading Hedo gave us better future financial flexibility.

The more I think about this trade, the more I like it... it makes us MUCH better defensively.

I'm not too keen on Carter, but maybe Babby can flip him for a PF?

Perhaps Troy Murphy??? Carter could reunite with the Nets, sounds good to me.

OK, quick I-told-you-so moment about Hedo...

What did I say?

OK, we may now move on and I will not mention it ever again.

I hope this trade helps Phoenix in a big way; I have visions of Gortat playing really, really well in Phoenix. :D

The fans of 2 of the 3 franchises that Carter has played on hates him, and the other one has no fans and are about to move. But I will take your word or it that they are all wrong and you are right.

FWIW, I'm from TO and I don't hate Vince, and many from New Jersey remember what he was like when he was a little younger and had decent support instead of a crap team. Vince isn't The Franchise, but he's still a guy who had a lot of talent and played pretty well. He didn't live up to his full potential, but few players ever do. He was good enough that people tried certain stuff with him that just doesn't work, sadly.

Well I look at it like this.

Good news.

We finally get rid of that cancerous contract and that chucking (Please Use More Appropriate Word) Hedo. I thought he'd do real well here, but guess what, I was so, so wrong. He was a big fart on the court and his jumpers sucked. He couldn't grasp the damn pick and roll, and he was extremely soft. People say he has good passing ability, but... do we need that?

We get Vince Carter. You MAY think that's not a good thing at all, but it is. On the bright side that is. He's not exactly in his basketball prime anymore and he was arguably equal to Jason. He's developed a jumpshot that's pretty consistent. He's not as athletic but he's pretty intelligent while Jason made bad decisions, and he still can get to the rim and draw a foul. Plus.. I think he'll do well here with our medical staff and FINALLLLLY being reunited with a talented point guard once more (for example Jason Kidd.

We also get Mickeal. Shoots a slow, but fluid jumper without a lot of elevation. Nearly half of his shots are from outside the three-point line. Shoots a decent percentage from that range, not great but he'll be able to drain them. I'd also like to call him a talented defensive player solely based on his athleticism and physical gifts, but also because of his IQ and his effort he tries to put on defense. He's a fine player. He'll be good here!

Then, we've got Gortat.

On offense he's not as servicable. Gets a lot of touches by being active without the ball and working hard, but also gets some touches one-on-one in the post. Creates very few of his offensive looks on his own, but he's got Nash next to him so not a big deal really. On defense however, he's great. He's a very very very talented rebounder and he's surprising athletic.
