Has this ever happened before? A superstar leaves a team, wins championships with a new team, then returns to the first team while still in his prime?

It's like Jordan leaving the Bulls for a few years to win championships on the Jazz with Malone and Stockton, then going back to Chicago.

I appreciate the fact that Lebron was as subtle as he could be about this "decision."
He might not be my favorite player, but he is an immense talent, and he has grown into a very respectable person over the last three years.
Good for Cleveland.
