Re: Greensboro Swarm - The D-League Thread
Swarm played a nice game last night, were down big early but made it competitive down the stretch. Nice lines by Sulaimon and Munford: http://dleague.nba.com/games/20161116/wesgbo/ Tobey also had 20 and 14.

LamarMatic7 wrote:wow. we have Xavier Munford on the Swarm!? I now see that we actually traded a D-League draft pick for him, whatever that means
he's decent. I liked him on the Grizz last year when they had a season from hell in regards to injuries. Munford can definitely be a back-up in the NBA.
the trade makes me wonder whether we have any long-term plans for him. he's definitely better than Roberts, but that being said Roberts is moreso on the roster due to his character than his basketball skills. is getting Munford as a 3rd PG worth it?
Edit: we have traded Roberts in the middle of the season beforehand though.
I'm on the Munford bandwagon. Looks comfortable from 3 and a better defender than Sessions/Roberts.

The @hornets plan for Harrison and Wood is to play 3 games with Swarm, then be in Charlotte for Wednesday home game.

Cool so they're actually gonna be down there for a month or two.
Glad to hear it

Re: Greensboro Swarm - The D-League Thread
in two games with Harrison/Wood, Swarm 0-2.
Harrison 22/7/3.5
Wood 21.5/12
both on low %s, both had 87 Otrg
Seems like both guys got a ton of minutes, took a lot of shots, and didn't really have an impact. Then again, entire team seems like a dumpster fire so far, so not really sure what to expect.

Re: Greensboro Swarm - The D-League Thread
I have watched all 4 of the games (via facebook). Relative to NBA games the D League pace of play seems slow and is not physical at all. A lot of the guys look like they have talent but few have NBA ready bodies. The NBA assignee players are given the green light and encouraged to bomb away. That's partly so that they can learn the difference between good and bad shots (per the Toronto 905 commentator referring to Bruno Cobolco).
Harrison looks like a chucker in this setting, though occasionally does something really athletic. Wood shows some fun inside outside skills but man is he skinny. He's got to gain a ton of weight. Sulaimon looked awful in the first game but has looked pretty good since. I like the way Perry Ellis plays unselfish ball and moves around the court, but he can not make a shot.
I like Mike Tobey's agility and nose for the ball. He got outmuscled by Marshall Plumlee Saturday. I do think Tobey can be a rotation big in a few years, but 25 pounds of muscle sure would help.
I really like Xavier Munford, though Harrison's arrival diminished his time on the ball. I'm impressed by his ball skills and passing, and really impressed with his defense. He also looks comfortable shooting the three.
Seems like every game the other team has the best guy on the floor - Anthony Brown (who averaged 29 ppg & shot 65% from 3 before signing with the Pels, who waived Archie Goodwin to make room), Ben Bentil & Damien Inglis have been stand outs vs Gboro. And I continue to be thoroughly confounded by the Swarm playing Damien Wilkins 30 to 40 mins per game!

Harrison headed back to Swarm. I guess Wood is staying.

Tobey injured in this game.

Munford looking so comfortable shooting the 3 over 40% Really might be a better fit here than Sessions; really ought to waive Roberts and give Munford some burn at PG2

typical lines you would hear if you were drinking this in Australia:
"So you sit down to piss do ya?"
"What is your husband drinking?"
"It's sad its still not legal for yous to be married yet"

Re: Greensboro Swarm - The D-League Thread
Hornets recalled Harrison again. Makes sense. We need bodies for practice.
