Also, don't ever want to hear anything about the Markieff trade again, gimme a break. Since we got him the guy has singlehandedly shut down Paul Millsap in like 4-5 consecutive games vs Atlanta. The same Millsap who had murdered us for years

Markieff is a major x-factor, he is able to neutralize all the stretch 4s who used to kill us in the past. Even guys like Griffin when we played LAC. Not only can Keef defend them but he goes at them physically on offense and wears them out. Huge, huge piece for this team

I have a hard time wrapping my head around the idea that Otto is the top 3-point shooter in the NBA % wise. I didn't see that coming. But I couldn't be happier for the kid because I know he puts in the work.

There's a "Can the Wizards win the title?" thread on the general board.

I went back in the Scott Brooks hiring thread to read my reaction to it, and I saw I got on board with the hiring fast. It was, in large part, because of your positivity about it. You may not know it, but your words carried weight.

I love Brooks. He says and does all of the right things. Everyone is having career seasons. And he's fostered amazing chemistry in the locker room. The team is playing for each other.

edit: whups, thought you were bondon. Forgive me, I've had many beers.

I think he and i were the two biggest supporters brooks had during his time here. The man is a very good coach and an amazing person, I'm still upset at the way presti treated him. I'm so happy he's having continued success and i hope you guys all grow to love him like he deserves. He was a huge part of our culture and besides seeing Russ get a 'ship nothing would make me happier than seeing Scotty holding the o'brien trophy.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

Looking at the game logs, I'm not seeing a dramatic before and after Morris difference. Maybe there's one particular game you're keyed in on?

"I said it in the chat and AJC, since the Wizards acquired Morris, they've solved their issue vs the Hawks."

I guess the Hawks fans realized it just as we did.

Chocolate City Jordanaire wrote:I expect a huge let down tonight. Atlanta has players including Millsap, Bazemore, and Schroeder, who play with a lot of intensity and fire against the Wizards. Also, Dwight Howard kind of owns Marcin Gortat.

Looking at the last three seasons, the match ups aren't as lopsided towards Howard as they were earlier in their careers, and the Wizards are 3-3 in those games.

Gortat 10.3 PPG, 11 RPG, 1.7 BPG, 25-46 FG, 12-15 FT, 4 PF
Howard 13.2 PPG, 11 RPG, 0.7 BPG, 28-53 FG, 23-41 FT, 3 PF

Gortat fouls more, Howard goes to the line more. At a glance, that's looks like the primary difference, a few extra PPG from FTs converted at a low %, so be optimistic, like all us other Wizards fans!

Looks even better now. Gortat has a few limitations, but he's done a good job over the years figuring how to maximize what he has.

See post above. It might seem anecdotal, but even the Hawks fans recognize it. Markieff is the perfect matchup for Millsap

Two things I really liked in this game. Scott Brooks calling a TO when Hawks cut lead from 30 to 26 or 24 I think. A string of bad possessions and he wasn't having it. Something I've only seen Popovich do. I've longed for a coach who could read the flow of a game and call appropriate TOs.

And Morris, massive praise for this guy who put the clamps on Milsap all game. He is one helluva damn good man to man defender.

Millsap hasn't been a consistent Wizards killer in the past. Don't get me wrong, happy about the game result, and the previous game wasn't a great one for Millsap either, so maybe Morris has figured him out (or maybe Millsap is showing his decline; worth noting for those thinking of acquiring him). The starters as a group are clearly playing well as a group. With Wall, Beal, and Porter (maybe Morris too), that's them further realizing their potential. With all of them, maybe there's a Brooks effect, helping them to find their best game.
