I just got Ass Creed Odyssey for $35 on Amazon. Between that and still needing to finish RDR2, I've got a lot of open world to explore.

SSBU rant. Seeking help before I throw my **** Switch out the window.
For the life of me, I cannot understand how every **** spirit match I get matched up against four **** spirits and all of the non-main characters I'm supposed to **** kill keep **** coming back to life no matter how many god damn **** times I hit them off the screen and they make the launch effect. What the mother **** is going on. They do not have extra lives at the bottom of the screen. I do not get it. What the **** am I missing?

I think I'm going to grab it off psn while its $30 myself. RDR2 still has a lot of life for me though as well.

You guys know by now I'm a patient gamer, and generally post about games months after they are discussed here. But I gotta say, playing Dead Cells now (I recall it being discussed here a lot a few months back) and just cannot get enough of it. Wow what an experience. Love how they allow for some permanent progression. The controls and way the character feels is awesome.

I love Dead Cells. Still haven't beaten it. Oddly, my best runs I think came pretty early on.

You should be able to see on the top right of the fight summary screen by the opponent power score. If the other fighters have extra lives it should show by their tiny picture. I had one match in WoL that had four sets of 2 Mega Mans (Men?) and it was a pain in the ass.

Still working my way through unlocking fighters on SSBU. I'm at 62 so far. The characters I've been most dominant with in Classic Mode are ROB and Mega Man. The character I've had the most trouble playing with so far is Jigglypuff.

Re: OT: Video Game Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos Thread
When I started using Dark Samus in unlock battles, I started collecting them really fast. Captain Falcon did a lot of work. So did Fox and Pokemon. I liked Falco, Pit, Young Link, Ryu, Dr. Mario, and Little Mac was definitely awesome. I had a really hard time with Mega Man and Pichu. There are still so many I haven't even played with yet. Excited to try Icineroar, Meta Knight, Ridley, and Mewtwo. Definitely not excited for Wii Fit Trainer, Duck Hunt, or Pac-Man.

We should get a SSBU online battle arena (or whatever it's called) going on of these nights

Re: OT: Video Game Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos Thread
I've played a disgusting amount of Dead Cells today. Last minute Christmas shopping in the morning, an hour of Dead Cells, Packer game while I watched Dead Cells runs, and done nothing but play it since the game ended. Taking advantage of the girl being gone for the day. She's on her way back home now and I'm like, but nine hours hasn't been enough.

Do you need to have played other Assassins Creed game to fully appreciate Odyssey? I haven't really played any other games in the franchise.

Absolutely not. The non-Greek stuff (the modern age...hopefully that’s not an AC spoiler at this point) is an absolute bore and matters 0%. I haven’t played an AC in-depth since AC2 and I haven’t missed a beat.

Re: OT: Video Game Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos Thread
Bringing it back to RDR2 for a bit since I've had some more time to play it over XMAS and I'm up to Chapter 5. Potentially a hot take, but this game is.....extremely disappointing. I'd give it a solid 6/10, if that. The whole time, it made me think of that South Park episode where Stan is growing up, and he's seeing the trailers and the voice is saying "ZOOKEEPER 2, **** YOU", basically to make the point that the first movie made money, so we don't even care that we know its terrible, we are gonna make another one and you'll like it. This game is Rockstar flexing its wallet and saying "We make money, and we are going to give you the same game you've played for the past 15 years with a fresh coat, and you'll still buy it"
The missions are exactly the same as every other game they've made since GTA 3. The combat system is even worse than the first one. Any of the "new" mechanics they've added to the game don't matter, at all. Camping doesn't matter. Your camp doesn't even really matter, and I'm disappointed I actually sunk money into it thinking something good would come out of it. Actually eating food doesn't matter. They claim it's open world, but only if you do things in the exact way they want you to. The controls are horrendously outdated. The interaction system rarely matters, and very much largely is the same as the first game. The things you think you should be able to do are hardly available. The only thing I've found remarkable about it is the graphics. Every once in a while there is something that truly does surprise you, but I found so quickly that those same things start to repeat. It's not an open world if the game specifically is hand holding you the entire way. I can recall only a handful of missions that gave you some freedom in how to finish them, and they usually ended up with "kill this guy, or let them go". After playing games like BOTW or MGS5 that fully embrace open-world nature, it's laughable for Rockstar to have implied early on that this was "open world". Unless Rockstar actually changes up the formula a bit, I don't think I'll buy another game from them, because I started to get this feeling with GTA5, and now I feel like a sucker.

I finished it, but once Chapter 3 rolled around I raced to get to the end because I didn't find much else all that much fun.
But it's definitely the big disappointment in media in my lifetime. I fully expected RDR2 to push the open world genre forward the way The Witcher 3 (and subsequently BOTW) did, but it didn't. If anything it was a big step back, relying on systems and mechanics that other AAA developers have abandoned.
I just find that incredible, given the time and resources they put into it.

I am getting absolutely butt ****ed in Smash...man I am terrible! Fun game but I really need to spend some time memorizing moves/controls so I can utilize multiple characters.

Funny you say that about the UI, I had the same issue. First time I fired it up I didn't have a clue what I was doing and ended up doing Smash mode (I think that's like free-play) for the first hour before figuring it out.

us too. had to eventually google it to find out what to play, and even now im not sure we were in the right part of the game. we wanted to do co-op storline, or the closest thing to it. we play something that kept us busy, and it made her happy enough, which is good by me.
not only is the ui ugly, its also not useable. i dont know who created it but they should be fired forever.
