I'm weary of Brett Brown. He only won 51 games with a roster of Embiid, Simmons, Butler, and Harris. Couldn't get past the second round either. We're never going to have a team more talented than that. He's not an awful coach, but that team really hasn't shown any progress in years.

I think if there was a time for a young coach to hit the market, the time is now.

Alot of the older guys are going to be leaving or left. Gentry, Popp may leave, Dantoni doesnt have a new contract yet.

Teams are looking for the next Brad Stevens or a Nick Nurse hidden gem. I think we certainly need a younger more relatable coach. A coach that can be around for the long haul and grow with the team.

I've heard Kenny Smith's name brought up a few times over the years on this board. What are basing his qualifications off of? Not saying there's no chance he turns out being a good coach, just wondering why people think so. I mean we breifly see his X's and O's on TNT, but is there more to it?

I have a hard time seeing the TNT guys leave, it's an amazing gig. They barely work, just ramble on for a bit while watching games, and make more than what coach salaries pay now. I would imagine Kenny is the least paid and he still makes $4M per year. Head coaching is a brutal job and they get blamed for all the failures of front offices, owners, and players combined.

He openly mentioned he wants to coach, but just has a luxury of saying no to bad franchises ie kings

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

I agree. I can't conceivably see why anyone would leave that job. They have one of the best jobs on earth. They watch games and then basically do what we do here in the game threads.

I don't know if Jerry has the $$$ but if you're looking for the next Brad Stevens, it's Chris Beard at Texas Tech

I don’t like how many job openings there are for head coach — we might not be able to get our guy, whoever that is.

My list is Lue, Kidd, and Marc Jackson

Honorable mention : Jacque Vaughn

I haven’t seen his name come up at all, but would love him. He’s be a great draw for players. At some point the X’s and O’s are all the same. I’m not sure what objectively separates an okay coach from a great coach other than intangibles, managing personalities, etc. This is a bit of a blanket statement, but think it holds mostly true

Saw that Udoka was on the Sixers list for HC. If the Bulls wanted him as rumored, I can't see him picking Chicago over Philly.

He's underachieved with said team. Last year the team was stacked. In Film sessions, he says nothing. Just literally clicks thru slides and says let's go. Watch Jimmy's interview with JJ Reddick. They both played for him at the same time. Signing mediocre Tobias Harris to a huge deal was also an awful move.

I wouldn’t want Brown. Sure he’s an upgrade and he’s experienced but don’t think he’s the man for the job. Bulls need a coach who is experienced and who will be a leader on this team that will receive total respect from the players. Not someone who will be friends with them.

Brown sucks. If 76ers had proper GM like Krause was for Bulls when he fired Doug Collins after he saw team going nowhere despite making playoffs they would end up building likely great team. GM is as important as coach and coach is important as franchise players are.

figure I'd lost this here as well since we also talked about the coaching search in the 2nd half of the show. We had Rob Schaefer on from NBC Sports Chicago. Have a listen at the links below.

Well Nate McMillan just got the axe, surprisingly. What do you guys think?
