Many posters were wrong about how good this team could be. This is why we didnt want to throw everything at Mitchell.

Many other posters were wrong about certain players on our team. Myself included.

We all have sinned, but we’re still here. 20 years in the making. I want blood in the playoffs.

Building off the season instead of blowing it up to draft a mid player seems prudent. Some bumps along the way like Kemba, Noel, F0urni3r, Cam almost looks insignificant now.

The guys we drafted are playing important minutes. Our two big free agent signings Randle+Brunson should both be all-stars and they are having their best years with the Knicks. Its not like we got two stars on the decline as usual.

The Knicks could have had a winning season in 2021-22 had Kemba and Fournier not replaced Rose and Bullock in their roles. Good thing that Kemba and Fournier were quickly replaced with Brunson and Hart.

Underrated part is Leon Rose being patient.

I am sure Knicks could've traded for Brunson. Lots of picks, young assets.
Randle looked terrible and Knicks could've send him away like a salary dump+pick.

But Rose stayed calm. Waited for the best time to make the moves. Let Randle get back to himself with a proper point guard.

Its very different than selling the house trade for Melo. Imagine if Knicks signed Carmelo 6 months later in FA. Using amnesty on Amare instead of Billups. That requires a patient front office. Rose is the best GM of the Knicks for 10+ years. Also bravo to Dolan as he does not exert win-now pressure on Rose. He seemed to learn not to be involved in decisions. Phil Jackson was not a good hire for the role but Rose makes ton of sense with his management background, agent relations.

The Mitchell non-trade really showed me a lot and I don’t think people are really analyzing it correctly in the context of the type of executive Rose is.

Like that trade was an easy immediate win that no one would have blamed Rose for making, but he decided to hold on to the assets, and not make the trade. Like what were people mad about? That he didn’t trade everything? Isn’t that what we expected him to do, if he was an executive who only cares about immediate results? It really showed me a lot.

Battered Knicks fan syndrome.

Objective take: The Knicks rotations features an All Star level PG and PF, good defenders, and a good young big man on the glass and in the paint. IQ is a solid back up PG. This isn't a fluke.

Eh. We’re still in a good position. I’m glad we kept our assets and not traded guys like IQ as filler.

Gotta say Mitchell Robinson looks incredibly focused. The Sims minutes may be a part of it but he is playing like he is playing for something.

Grimes more in rhythm. Randle was finding him beautifully on cross court passes. He also seems to have calmed down. His release might be too quick.

RJ needs to start emulating others by focusing on his passing. Everybody knows he passes when stuck so he gets picked off a lot. If he would give it up and get it back when it comes around again he could actually score.

I wasn't on the DM is all that or nothing bandwagon, but this is a good post giving a more reflective angle on a possible mindset of Leon. Is it correct? Who can look into the sleeping giant's mind, but let's hope it is. :D

I think it's all hit them - like an overpowering drug - here they are plodding along and suddenly discover to their amazement they are in the midst of a gold field. It boosts them up and they each boost each other. Like the 69 Mets or the Cubs when they finally made the series after 100 years. Or Namath's Jets. An extra jolt of adrenaline.

all the reports said the knicks were caught off guard when mitchell was traded to cleveland, not that they turned it down. they expected to eventually reach a deal. i don't care about not getting him now but that's rewriting history.

My point is more that he set a line. They could've thrown in everything Utah wanted and they didn't. What was stopping them from throwing in the picks and Grimes and getting the trade done? No one would've blamed Rose/The Knicks.

They moved from Jersey to NY to "take over" the city.
KD and Kyrie were supposed to dominate the league.

What a sad, sad, ending! :noway:

what stopped them was they thought they though they had more leverage than they did and utah would eventually acquiesce. they were wrong about that.

But if Leon just wanted to "save his job" and get the immediate win, wouldn't that supersede negotiating tactics?

Really think the Knicks have a chance at Jaylen Brown.

No to OG. He don't even play due to nagging injuries and his consistent absence would be a distraction for this team which is built upon being ready at a moments notice.

He's a lateral move that would cost too much and doesn't make us a top 2 team in the East.
