I love Lawson but I can't see any deal for him unless Denver gets really desperate to move up. Even then, for us I really wouldn't do it because a) if we get the 1st or 2nd pick, there's no doubt I'm taking Okafor/Towns- there's really no realistic package you could throw at me to get me to move down from that b) if we get 3-5, I still value Winslow/WCS/Russell over the guys in the 6-10 range (Denver's likely spot).

The key here is actually Mudiay. If you noticed he's the only top 5-6 prospect I didn't mention (he's arguably 2-3 for some people)- he's the guy that if we can get him at 3-5, send him to Denver for Winslow or WCS with a Lawson/Calderon swap... I'd probably do it. I also could see Denver jumping at that and even including a little more. The major problem is that's a really specific scenario. Like it'd require Denver basically getting the 6th pick and Mudiay not getting snatched up. And I'd draft Russell before doing this trade, so it's all kind of moot. At least for me personally, I'm hoping one team above us picks up Mudiay so one of Towns/Okafor/Russell falls to us (obviously only if we don't get the 1st/2nd pick).

I'm down with #3 and Calderon for #7, Lawson, G-Harris & Denver's 2016 pick.

- we take WCS at #7
- we trade Timmy for a late 1st round pick
- we sign Monroe, T-Harris, and C-Joseph

Lawson/Joseph
Galloway/G-Harris
Melo/Early
T-Harris/2015 pick (from Denver)
Monroe/WCS

It ain't happening if they have to include the 2016 pick. Be happy they taking Calderon off our hands and trading us a player we should have drafted. Another thing, 2015 Denver pick = WCS, I don't know why you have it twice in your potential lineup.

Sorry that 2015 pick was supposed to come from moving THJ.

You mention that Denver should include their 2016 first round pick in the Lawson trade and I said it's not happening. They already our pick for next year, they won't do us any favor.
I will only cherish the wins and ignore everything else, because that's the only way to survive as a Knicks fan.

The only way Monroe is a possibility is if we draft Towns or Russell. Okafor is a clear overlap and Mudiay's lack of shooting would be terrible for Greg until he fixed it.

Looking past the possibilities of Gasol, LMA, and even Millsap: If we did draft Russell tell me what you think about this:

Galloway
Russell
Melo
Ed Davis
Monroe

Not winning any rings but Ed Davis would be a good pickup next to Monroe. Doesn't space the floor and not sure how great of a passer/triangle fit he is but the guy is versatile, athletic, can score in the paint, hustle, defend 4s/some 5s, and block shots. He has a center's skillset in a PF's body, which is what Monroe would need next to him defensively. Him and Monroe would give us some youth up front on the cusp of their primes.

You don't want Monroe playing PF and ideally he needs a defending/shooting PF next to him (Look at him the same way you do Al Jefferson, who also began as a PF until teams realized he didn't have the footspeed to play there). Monroe would have to keep improving his jumper, which looked good when he played us, if he was to play with Davis but even if he doesnt I think there's more than enough shooting with Gallo, Russ, and Melo. The PIstons did fine with Monroe and Drummond starting when Jennings/Augustin, KCP/Meeks, and Singler/Butler were spreading the floor. We also run the triangle which doesn't need a stretch 4, but Monroe developing a jumper would clearly open up more possibilities offensively.

Could also go with Amir Johnson instead of Davis, but Amir is getting slowed by injuries whereas Davis has much less mileage and looks like he's on the cusp of breaking out.

Russell-Davis-Monroe is spacing death. Plug in Aldridge and you're onto something.

It's inevitable. If we miss out on Towns, Okafor, Gasol, and Aldridge then Phil is not going to go into next season with Jason Smith starting again.

Monroe wouldn't be awful with the rising cap, especially if he does stop teasin it and develops a consistent J one of these days. Then all you really need is a defender/hustler next to him in the Davis/Amir mold.

No rationalizing, no ifs. Monroe is Amare 2.0.

He's awful even with a rising cap.

Yeah I'm definitely on the Tobias Harris bandwagon. Would probably get him cheaper then Draymond due to their circumstances (Green being in the national spotlight on the best team, Tobias being in purgatory in Orlando). Plus I think he's the better player of the two.

Harris, Carroll and one of the consensus top 4 would make this a successful offseason for P-Jax imo.

EDIT: Also I belive both Harris and Carroll have expressed interest in the Knicks IIRC. Or were at least rumored to be interested for whatever thats worth.

Question, I haven't seen much of Tobias Harris other than highlights in-which he reminds me of a taller Melo. what are his positives and negatives, and what could he bring to the table in a triangle offense? Does he play Defense?

He's a bootleg Melo without the bully strength + a worse rebounder. There's absolutely no reason to sign him.

The difference is Monroe can be a good piece for the right price. Even if he doesn't improve, he is still a solid 2nd or 3rd big. Amare couldn't really play any role because he was too injury prone and needed the ball to do anything (whereas Monroe can crash the boards).

Monroe is so not Amare 2.0 if only for the injury issues Amare had coming here

what he is however is a worrisome defender, but he's not alone in that

Im not sure what Butler's interest in leaving in free agency is, especially if they can Thibs.
Apparently the lakers are gonna make a push for him and Love

I think we should offer him the max perhaps first of anyone outside of Gasol. He's such a complete player and would be so solid with Melo on the wing no matter who we draft. Imagine Mudiay/Russell, Butler and Melo? wow.

he have to sign the second scoring option in free agency (If we're not drafting okafor) and it will almost certainly be a PF/SF(melo can switch between both). my list is: 1. Aldridge 2. Love 3. Harris/Monroe 5.Millsap (I believe millsap is a better player now then harris/monroe, but the two are way younger and have more potential)

There's literally no conceivable way that the Bulls won't match any offer for him.

Please no trading the pick for Lawson. Have we not learned any lessons?

Is that the only reason Monroe is Amare 2.0? He is younger, healthier (I thought), slightly better contract than Amare had. Different game/better passer.

Only reason I don't get Monroe is if we draft Okafor. Or we can get Aldridge/Gasol.

I know you're the king of saying dumb **** so I have to ask, are you referring to Amar'e in a Knicks uniform or Amar'e at Monroe's age of 24? Because we'd only be so lucky.
