Broussard: Lakers eyeing Michael Beasley Chris Broussard of ESPN reports that the Lakers have spoken to the Timberwolves about acquiring Michael Beasley.
Broussard writes that the Lakers are "intrigued" by the possibility of adding Beasley and that the team was actually in talks for him before the year began. Los Angeles could absorb Beasley into its $8.9 million trade exception, and Broussard also writes that the two teams have not discussed Pau Gasol since the preseason.

One of my favorite players is joining that other LA team. Lakers are preparing to sign Rasheed Wallace. Tooth just got longer, but he's a big that can defend.

Earlier in the season, I was kind of hoping we'd sign him if we didn't get Kenyon.

I want us to pull some cool tricks out of the hat as well.... We need a 2 guard :x

I don't see how this is of help to them, they need a PG or a SF much more, not another big coming off the bench.

You know what I really think it is though? They're getting ready to trade Pau.

Former All-Star Guard Brandon Roy Entertains Comeback Possibility

Lately, Roy has been working out in his hometown gym, preparing for a life changing possibility. 'It burns being away from the game and watching the entire season from the outside,' a frustrated Roy said as he followed the shortened 2011-12 NBA season from his living room couch.

According to sources close to the player, regardless of his knee problems, Roy's decision to retire wasn't all health related. 'There's something to it, but it's not the right time for me to get into it right now,' Roy said. 'I've been doing some treatment and I'm trying to leave the window open to returning to basketball.'

When met with skepticism regarding his comeback, Roy explained, 'It's the truth. It's really hard being so far away from the game. I spend time watching Jamal (Crawford) and following all of his games; Will (Conroy) and Tre (Simmons) are both doing their thing, so it's driving me to wanna come back out there. If the treatment I've been looking into can work, I believe there's a good chance you will see Brandon Roy back hoopin'.'

David Pick, US Basket

He could have been a nice pick up for us if he could manage 15-20 mins a night. With him still looking to do a procedure on his knee, it doesn't look like he will be back on the court this season even if he is able to make a return.

I personally don't like him risking a future in a wheelchair, so I hope he makes the right decision. He's only 27 and needs to be thinking about his future. Barring a miracle, his knees are not going to get better.

I also think they have more pressing needs, but Sheed can't hurt if he's in shape. There's plenty of rumors going around with Pau right now and I wouldn't be surprised if he is moved before the deadline. Houston still wants him, but I wouldn't give up Lowry if I were them.

With rumors of Brandon Roy coming out of early retirement, how many of y'all would want him playing for LAC?

At this point with no Billups, no JR Smith, an undersized Foye and an uncertainty with Simmons, heck I surely wouldn't mind.

first of all, portland cannot have brandon back. they amnestied him for cap relief and according to the new CBA he won't be able to sign with portland until the amnestied contract is expired, which i think is 2015.
secondly, i said this in another thread but he shouldn't try to come back for his own sake. 27 year olds with bone to bone osteoarthritis and no meniscus left is a crippling condition. elderlys with less advanced but same condition routinely gets an artificial joint replacement surgery done. artificial joints will allow patients who suffer from roy's condition to walk again with a minimal or no pain by creating a cusion that was degenerated in the joint, but we have no means to recreate the actual meniscus that is functional enough for NBA player. this means roy will simply stick it out and worsen his condition faster while he can play through pain, and deal with consequences later.
i hope this youngman doesn't make foolish decisions.
ehhhhh f it.

Wizards fan here. How about Nick Young for Bledsoe? Nick is an UFA free agent, and I doubt he's in our long-term plans. He's been inconsistent this year, but he can get real hot in spurts. His FG% is down this year, but he shot much better last year, and I think it's mainly because he's trying to do too much right now. I think he can be a good scoring option for you guys if you restrict his role a bit. He's a very good long-range shooter.

I'd give up Bledsoe for Young in a second, but I don't think the Wiz would do that. Young may not be in their plans but they can get more for him than that IMO. Maybe Bledsoe and Wall would be intriuging to them tho. Bottom line is at this point Young is way better so of course I'd do that. Probably add a pick to get it done!

Ned, I hear what you're saying about Roy but c'mon man! If he wants to come back and still has game why not take him on? We need a SG BAD!!! There isn't much out there, as of last season Roy still had enough left to make a difference. I hear what you're saying but if he's going to play in the NBA I'd love for it to be here!!

i know we all want a stud like roy to give us just what we need, and i can't agree more on the sentiment bro, but i don't want to watch roy in wheelchairs after damaging his bones so much and gets to a point where even simple mechanical replacement joints to keep him upright won't work at age 30. i know blazers are shady when it comes to medical retirements, a la dmiles, but what roy meant to the state of oregon, it is hard to miss the day to day medical report we've gotten over the years. from what i have read, he has no meniscus. once he wears out the remaining cortical plate of this long bones, he won't walk anymore.

LeBron finds 'big brother' in Hakeem Olajuwon

Image

"He's doing fantastic," Olajuwon said. "He should (win MVP), no question about it. The statistics speak for themselves."

But Olajuwon still believes James, 27, is just scratching the surface. With some further work, he anticipates James will be even better.

"I knew he recorded everything we worked on," Olajuwon said. "I know he's practiced it. I can see that. But the comfort level, when you get into the competition, you start playing to your strengths, which is more of (an) outside (game). I see him post up. But I still see a lot of opportunities there. He's not capitalizing as much as he should. He needs more of a refresher course where he can become more comfortable. I see him (improving his post game), but he needs more time."

Chris Tomasson, Fox Sports Florida

A great article that gives a real in-depth look at the relationship between Olajuwon and LeBron.

For the last couple of summers, I've wanted DJ to pay the Dream a visit. He said it was going to happen last summer, but it hasn't happened yet. I really hope that he hooks up with him this summer. Blake too if he's not involved with Team USA. Hakeem has been the league's best big man since Kareem. There's so much that he could teach them both offensively and defensively.

Thanks for the article mk, it was a great read. It's amazing how great in shape Olajuwon still is, I sincerely believe if he wanted to come to the NBA he could easily still be serviceable.

In other news, the Timberstomps have lost their last 2, and the loss against the Suns yesterday was great. :)

Rubio said his game resembled Steve Nash on draft night.

Steve Nash showed him what a Top 5 PG of all time can do, even on his last legs.

Can't wait until we hammer them at their place.

Irrelevant, but I don't think Michael Beasley is "cool" or funny at all. A lot of fans here praise his antics, he's really corny, and a major disappointment considering the tools he has and how easy the game comes to him.

Kevin Love just dropped 42 and 14 on the Blazers.

Speaking of the Blazers.
They're in deep trouble and I can't see Mr. Sonic(Nate McMillan) keeping his job throughout the season if they don't turn this around quick.

42 and 10,

He's relying on that 3pt shot way too much though. But hey, he's knocking em down.

I just saw that Deron Williams scored 57 on the Bobcats. Crazy
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Hope the MRI says Ricky is fine.
