danng...
@jalenrose: If I'm the Lakers I trade for DH regardless. How do you leave the legacy of 16 banners w/Wilt/Kareem/Shaq. Then Kobe,Nash & Pau?! #NBA

@jalenrose: The Magic should hire former Lakers asst Shaw then trade for a pckg that pairs him back w/Bynum #NBA

@EricPincus: Clearly the Lakers are not dying to get Howard at any cost - because they can easily beat Brooklyn package

Is there any Houston trade that's real? If so, I'd take their offer over the Nets.

However, I don't think the proposed Nets deal is all that terrible--certainly not to the level of self-defenestrating out of tall buildings, as some have made it out to be. We get three mid-to-late first-rounders (which is where the Rockets' rookies we're talking about trading for were selected), we get a top-ten center in the league (yes, Lopez is top-ten; it goes, Dwight, then Bynum, with an interchangeable mix of Hibbert, Gasol, Noah, Monroe, Bogut, Anthony Davis if he turns out to be as good as projected, and then Lopez in there), we shed three bad contracts in the Richardsons and Duhon (and with them gone, Hedo's becomes less of an albatross, as it is only partially guaranteed and expires around the same time as a lot of our other contracts, making them nice trade bait in a year and a half), and we get a handful of fringe players or people I've never heard of, who have small contracts, give them a shot, and see how they do, low-risk.

That's better than Dwight leaving for nothing, and if it is the best offer, I don't have any problem taking it. I look forward to a rebuild done by a staff who seems to value team-building for the long-term.

Of course, Dwight still behaved like a jerk during the process, but whatever, money and all-world talent doesn't buy you common sense and decency, I guess.

Fran reportedly made 1.9 million ($2.4 million) last season playing in Barcelona. Well Barca began low-balling Vazquez over the past few weeks with a 1.2 million Euros per season ($1.5 million) offer that he rejected. Only having one year of that proposal guaranteed didn't have him doing backflips either. Vazquez isn't a youngster anymore. The 29-year-old is peaking as a player and Fran's looking for security in still remaining with one of Europe's most successful basketball franchises. Vazquez would ideally want over $1.5 million per season and have 2 or more years guaranteed on whatever contract he signs. Whether that'll be in Spain or Orlando is the main question. Unicaja and Real Madrid are extremely interested in the center's services. But whatever proposal is offered can be matched by Barcelona. So what makes this a favorable scenario for Orlando? Fran hates Head Coach Xavi Pascual and in the past few hours it's been rumored that Barcelona won't exercise their right to match any offer thrown at Fran. Game-changer. The relationship is severely damaged and I'm sure Vazquez and his representatives would appreciate a clean slate across the Atlantic Ocean where our new coaching staff still hasn't been selected yet. Also, Barcelona is rebuilding their frontcourt to make a run at dominating Euroleague again. I'm still celebrating Olympiakos' improbable victory and European crown. We're not the only ones pressing the reset button.

Obviously many are going to have a reality check if we get Lopez. It's going to tell us a) he's better or at least viewed as better by GMs than most here think or b) the other offers were REALLY bad, or c) we have no idea what promises the front office made Dwight when he signed over his ETO.

I don't see being stuck paying Lopez a max salary for the next 4 years and a couple late 1st round picks being better than letting Dwight walk for nothing. Plus, there's the chance, as minute as it is, for Dwight to re-sign with Orlando after he sees that the alternatives that can sign him are not that much better.

I'm sure we could get a spanish speaking coach if Fran comes. We probably will anyway if we keep Ayon. He waits until he is 29 to come over? I wonder what he has left.

So, did Magic FO really meet with Fran? The lowball offer plus his rift with the coach and his team loading up on other big men are really intriguing. He doesn't want that much money, they're saying 2 mil for 2 years? Sign me up for that contract.

I really hope we don't trade Dwight to the Nets. The potential offer that we could get from the Rockets is what we need. Start the rebuilding process. Trading Dwight would most likely have us in the bottom of the league. Get a top give pick and in 2-3 years we will be contenders again.

who knows, but he could be a great trade piece if we're really going to just blow it up and start from scratch.
