Nothing is Quick until it happens. Then, we can say it is quick. For now, it is just empty words. I bet Jordan told the Bobcats that they would rebuild quick also.

When do you stop drinking and give up the negativity?

Where am I wrong in my statement? There is no such thing as Quick until after it happens quickly!

Proposal: How about changing the name from "Official Speculation Thread" to "Official Discussion Thread".

Not that we all didn't have have a lot of fun hoping and wishing on the speculation thread, but the trades have been made, the front office has moved on and so should we. Besides, it's become more of a discussion thread anyway.

Just a thought.

Correct but tell me, who are the magic going to sign that will turn us into a championship contender quickly? I don't see any realistic options...

That wasn't the question/point. Someone referenced the Clips and our rebuilding. They've been rebuilding for a long time - largely due to a cheap owner. That's an issue we've not had, and probably won't in the near future.

Also, I don't see this team starting a bunch of rookies and 2nd year players like a lot of you guys think.

Harkless is still a project and he will not be starting this year at all.

Nicholson won't be starting either.

We're probably looking at...

Nelson/Ish
Afflalo/Redick
Turk/Moe
BBD/Nicholson
Vucevic/O'Quinn

I also can't wait to use AfflaLOL when Afflalo does something dumb.

Cmon dude u have to have half a brain to think that we will over play our veterans and underplay our rookies. This years focus is on player development and getting a high lottery pick. That's it. Good thing for us, those are both accomplished by over playing our rookies.

Where do you guys think our draft position will be? is it too early to tell? I still think we will trade at least 1 more of our vets....whether it's JJ/Hedo/Harrington/Baby(unlikely).....There is 8 teams better than us in the East so don't think we'll make the playoffs but if we do keep the vets and compete then i think we might be near the 8th seed....which would place us 15th-18th pick.....i'm hoping that we trade our vets and maximize the suck so we get into the top 5.....what do you guys think?

Please stop being naive. There's absolutely no way Harkless starts over Turk or Nicholson starts over BBD.

You can still develop your young guys even if they don't start. There's also this thing called practice. A player like Harkless is not someone you throw into a starting lineup and wish him the best of luck. You ease him into action coming off the bench. You work with him in practice and in the film room.

And where did I say anything about overplaying and underplaying? The point was that people shouldn't be expecting guys like Harkless and Nicholson to start or play 30 minutes a game. They're too inexperienced at this point to be given significant minutes.

Also, you guys need to stop saying the goal is to tank. That's not the goal. People's jobs depend on production. These guys are also too competitive to just want to lose. It's a slap in the face to veteran players like BBD and Redick to tell them "Hey, I know you guys give it everything you have and have a desire to succeed but we want you take a backseat and really support our young guys so we can get a top pick. KTHX!"

It's seriously stupid. Have you ever played any type of competitive sport?

The goal is to develop our young talent and draft more young talent regardless of what pick we have.

It's not to purposefully play inexperienced players more so they can learn on the fly while ensuring that we suck more.

Depending on the draft, you can have the #3 pick or the #11 pick and end up with the same type of player giving you the same impact.

If we trade Afflalo, Harrington & Big Baby, then I expect us to get the #1 pick... I mean, looking back: Cleveland loses LeBron, gets #1. New Orleans loses CP3, gets #1. I'm hoping we're the 3rd team to luck out... but knowing us, I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't get it.

Even if we don't trade, I expect us to get somewhere between 5 to 8. I mean, that team during Dwight's rookie year with Stevie Franchise, Cat Mobley (later Doug Christie), finally healthy Grant Hill and Turk only ended up finishing with the 11th pick. Surely this current team is worse than them.

Well granted, Johnny Davis was the coach of that 2004-05 team

If Jacque Vaughn is anything like what we hope he is (a good coach who emphasizes hard work & runs a similar offense/defense as the Spurs), I can see Heart and Hustle II, but I think playoffs is being too optimistic. Our best players are essentially composed of 3rd or 4th options at best on other playoffs teams, most who probably wouldn't get more than 20 mpg for them.

I don't know much about this kind of stuff!!! but I hope the Magic get lucky and receive two selection for 2013 draft. The #1 and #2 "lmao" so the Magic draft: Noel, and Muhammad. Then later at 2014 try to get either Kasey Hill or Andrew Wiggins.
^---DREAM TEAM---^

PS: but to fully tank we must get rid of more vets like Baby, AL, or etc...

---TANK ROSTER---
Vucevic / Ayon / O'Quinn
Nicholson / McRobert / Harper
Hedo / Harkless / Eyenga / Q-Rich
Afflalo / Liggins
Nelson / Smith

Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA
Sam Presti has lost staff in offseason, but David Vanterpool going back into coaching ranks w/ Portland is easily the toughest blow to OKC.

This made me laugh.

One good thing about Anthony Parker is that he probably has loads of contacts in the European market, considering he made a name for himself there as a player. Good hire.

So did Martins go on the news and expand on his rebuild comment, or what that tweet all we heard about it?

I wasn't aware of that either... I thought Sterling still owned the Clips.

Can anyone tell me who the. ew owner is?
