Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part III
The time to trade Simmons was last summer, now with a mediocre year, another horrible playoff performance and a max contract looming i dont think we are going to receive any good offers.
I would not trade him, unless someone overpayed, but i would not extend him either. Just challenge him to come next year imporved and play like a star and earn his max contract.

The fact is Ben has achieved things (Roy and All-star in two straight years) that Jordan and Lebron have, but the coaching staff have let the kid down BADLY. How the hell did he have a midrange jumper in his game last season and then has absolutely nothing this season? How the hell is he still attempting to shoot with his less dominant hand? How the hell is his form so bad right now to the point where he's scared to get free throws? As much as people get on Ben's back, Brett Brown is the coach and him and his staff have a major role to play in this, they really do.

You can say he's been poor in these playoffs no doubt, but "mediocre year"? Was I on a different planet or did he make the All-star team?

Dirk Nowitzki also made it

Weird.
Ben usually tweets an emoji like he “locked in” every game. But not in g5.

He hasn't been locked in at all this series apart from some good defence in a few games.76ciology wrote:Weird.

Dont know. If you watched g4, you can catch him being lost on several possessions like he was pissed off and just wouldnt work hard. Kind of like how lebron would take off whenever he doesnt feel like playing.

Ben Simmons is an opportunistic player who gets his numbers in transition. In a half court game he's next to useless. He can't impose his will on a game. He's afraid to shoot. He's afraid to go to the free throw line. He passes up layups to give other players more difficult shots because he knows he has no touch. The playoffs and the regular season are just completely different styles of play. His potential is tantalizing, but he's flaws are obvious and devastating.

Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part III
Ben is a good player who plays great against sub par competition.
He makes his name on playing against poor defensive teams or teams that don't have long quick players to shut him down.
The great players, when the competition level is highest, elevate their game.
We have ONE player on this team like that, Jimmy Butler.
No more talk of Ben being a top 10 player or any of that. He is a top 10 player in POTENTIAL, not in reality.

Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part III
just watched the postgame interview from embiid. at least he knows what hes doing wrong and knows what he has to do. im not sure the same can be said about ben. jimmy supposedly tells ben, attack everytime he got the ball. and now, how many shots he took? five freaking shots. scoring isnt his game, we all get that, but cmon, five shots....when your number one option on offense is sick.
the phrase "too cool for school" sadly fits too good for him. even his dealing with criticism...he rather say to his own fans keep booin me when i have a better game, instead of admitting he just played poorly and can understand the frustration from the fans.
he has to be humbled...was a star at high school, was a star at college, dating famous girls, is all about that glamour ****. cant stand it

More worrisome than his lack of jumper is his lack of speaking up about his own shortcomings. I rarely (if ever) hear him say "I need to do a better job." "I need to improve on x, y, z." That's what worries me the most about him.

The way to get ben simmions attention is that sixers have basically choice and that is either ben improves his jumpshot or position change to full time power forward. The sixers should also sign veteran point guard like collision or payton type player or draft carson edwards. I was surprised that sixers didn't try trade for mudiay, payton, or jamal crawford should have done that and the sixers have lot of 2 round picks in 2019 use i think 5 second round picks.

His Draftexpress scouting video is really accurate and got mocked by many. "Questions about his character and overall approach" is spot on.

I totally believe that Ben is pissed and whiny about Jimmy taking over most of the PG duties, and I couldnt give a **** less. Man up and learn how to impact a game.

You know what I meant. Ben winning the roy and then being a all-star In his first two years just like Lebron and Jordan.

Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part III
When was the last time a second year player was considered a critical component (top 3 player) for an honest true championship contender? Maybe LeBron? Magic? I think we are putting the cart before the horse a bit with Simmons.
The win now deals we made put unfair expectations on Simmons, not to mention having to deal with the world's best perimeter defender today and one of the best of all time this series.
I'll be all aboard the criticize Simmons bandwagon if he doesn't come into training camp next year incorporating a lot of improvement in his offensive game (finishing at the rim, being a more impactful halfcourt player, midrange, getting to and making free throws). Not all of those things but certainly much better at at least two of those 5. But our expectations of Simmons are out of whack with traditional NBA player development.
Embiid has skewed all Sixers' fans thinking when it comes to what the typical trajectory is to stardom (or even playoff impactfulness) for an NBA phenom.

If we can get Booker for Simmons straight up, I'd consider it. If the Suns get the first pick, though, I don't know how you do a Zion Williams, Ben Simmons, DeAndre Ayton team. If the Suns want to put themselves in that corner, then by all means.
If we have Booker instead of Simmons, we have a lot more flexibility with how we construct this roster.

No need to worry about that, they trade us Zion instead of that loser Booker, we can even add Embiid if they want. Simmons+Booker is a much better fit for them.
