Elite scorers + Elite depth at every position.

We saw how it works, Celtics played solid defense against us in the first half.

Meant absolutely nothing once Brad Stevens, in some sort of arrogant move, put Thompson on Durant. That move right there sealed Boston's fate. Once KD got into a rhythm it didn't matter who was in front of him, he was going to torch them.

Then, when KD and Kyrie needed rest, LeVert, Allen and the boys came in and HELD the line. That's all they have to do. And they held that line against Boston's starters.

This is an elite roster. The next opponents: CHA, MEM, ATL, ATL, WAS, UTAH

All winnable games, but Atlanta, Washington, and Utah will not be pushovers.

Defense is looking pretty good as well. Dinwiddie/Levert are committing on that side. I don't think we have a single defensive liability in our lineup outside of Kyrie who is looking average at worse currently.

Don't even think this is true tbh, Kyrie has been above average defensively so far. He's actually very scrappy for a player of his reputation.

Yeah I agree. He was pretty good tonight.

The advantage of having so many scorers is it allows other guys to commit defensively. Nobody feels like they have to carry the scoring load.

Either it be 7 or 11, the end result is cash.

I won some nice change off of the Nets today. I expect this trend to continue.

Nets #1 in defensive efficiency as well. The eyeball test matches the data. This team is scrapping hard.

I love how the reduced roles for LeVert and Dinwiddie have allowed then to expend now energy in defense, and shout out to JAFRO for being a problem for the Celtics around the rim.

.

i felt the same... but dang, that did indeed look easy. It is pretty much impossible to stop Kyrie and KD with floor spacers and rim runners around them. they are dropping 25-30+ with relative ease withing playing big minutes.

Kyrie and Kevin have preached about this being a process. Every game is an opportunity to learn and improve.

I wasn’t upset that we were down early. The important piece is always how we respond when faced with adversity. That’s why I said at halftime that I was interested in seeing how we’d respond in the 2nd half.

Even though we were battling back and forth in the 2nd quarter, I thought we responded well to BOS physicality in the 1st quarter. Kevin woke up in the 3rd quarter and we stopped being sloppy.

Tough regular season battles will help prepare us for battles in the postseason. I love how we responded and kept getting better throughout the game.

We are also like an old school brusing NFL running back... our offense is relentless. they can battle us early on, but eventually all those blows will slow opponent later in games. they may match us shot for shot but eventually wont be able to keep up. and other teams best players will need to expend a ton of energy defending us.

My thoughts on the game...

1) Kyrie is locked in defensively. his IQ off the charts and he is attacking guys like a bulldog getting right up in their chest. we know he is elite offensively, and its just 2 games, but he is playing all-nba level D.

2) Allen looked excellent defensively. key moment for me was when thompson took a power dribble, lowered his shoulder but allen held his ground, altered the shot, then got the rebound over thompson (an excellent offensive rebounder). thats a big man sequence. I think allen is capable of outplaying deandre (who had a good night as well), but i think i may still keep him off the bench + closing games if he did. i think he is super important to leverts game. they have such great chemistry. helps keep our bench crushing it. good problem to have

3) Team chemistry is off the charts. you can tell these guys all like eachother... and that "us vs them" thing with the media is having a glavanizing effect. KD/Kyrie have always gotten it from the media, but dinwiddie has also always had great disdain for them. then you have DJ who Allen is looking to take his spot, with a standing ovation for allen on a good play. KD/Kyrie getting hype jumping off the bench after a TO to give levert dap. then kyrie/KD getting pumped when the game was sealed.

4) KD is our best player, but Kyrie is the engine and leader of this team. he is the alpha and its fun to watch. KD makes him so much better. he is ungauradable with KD to take attention away

5) love dinwiddie taking on a new role. was a 20/7 guy last year. he is our roberson/beverly type this year. taking on the challenge defensively. checking his ego offensively.

We just smashed boston without breaking a sweat. they couldnt keep up. they hit a ton of contested threes. eventually those dont fall. you cant beat this nets team with defense. you need offense and defense. eventually your D wont hold up. eventually your O cant keep going shot for shot. we are legit.

As nauseating as it was on the GB when the nets were a laughing stock or getting hated on it's equally nauseating when posters are taking victory laps on the nets' behalf two games into the season. that place truly is unreadable. I look forward to the nets getting called overrated again in 20 minutes time.

DJ was awesome today btw. He gave great effort rebounding, screening, jumping and running. For him, it's all about effort imo. If he gives 100% consistently, then he will be useful to this team for sure. Allen will keep improving and he deserves a lot of credit as well. I don't mind who starts now as long as DJ gives 100%. Allen also has perfect chemistry with Vert so that helps greatly off the bench.

After Charlotte, we will have a LONG home stand.

Grizzlies, Hawks (2x), Wizards, Jazz, Sixers.

For real. How many Nets to the ECF/Finals threads popped up after the win? Too many. The GB makes knee jerk reactions look relatively mild

Funny how things change quickly. They spent the last several months calling Kyrie a lunatic and now they fall in line. Pawns.

What a treat getting to watch that last night (and having Kamara on a couple of my fantasy teams that are in the finals)

The one thing I don't really care about and don't need though, is the validation from the media. We've been **** on and dumped on for years.... you think I care anymore what dudes from the Ringer say and if we're on the back page of some NY newspaper anymore? And I know everyone is different and that's fine that we continue to see that stuff and feel good about it.... I'm just saying for ME/MYSELF that I don't care about it.

I want to see these guys play hard, have fun, and win. Two games into the season it's looking exactly like that. I want to enjoy watching my team that I've been with for so many year just finally have some success and keep it all about basketball. Not trying to be a pompous ass or anything just that's just how I feel.

With that said... back to the game. How nice is it to have a game going into the half, have KD and Kyrie probably give a locker room speech that they need to step it up in the second half, and then we see Durant go nuclear for a few minutes there and Kyrie seals the deal in the 4th? I think it just makes everyone so much more confident and elevates their level of play.
