Daniels is more than likely going top 5-6.
Depends on the Intel and how the draft rolls.
QB goes #1
MHJ goes #2
One of the top two are still sitting there.
New England calls and goes hey bud I'll give you #4 and 35 and 2 ed next year for 3.
You take that deal. Now maybe you don't trust the giants to not take a QB at 5 even when Jones is making so much money. So you take Daniels at 5 and regroup making a decent trade and getting some assets.

Bears go ot or WR
Cards take MHJ or OT
Now all three are sitting there at three the pats call offer you a little more cuz they buy into the Williams hype.
Now you're at 4 and the only other team who needs a QB in the top ten is the giants and there are two left. So you can make a swap back with the giants say 4 for 5 and a second and a third or a second and a 4th next year.
But you feel safe trading back with any team 6-9 because they don't need QBs maybe someone jumps in and snipes him but that's a game you take.
You have options you can trade back a few most spots and take JJ or Bo if you feel comfortable that thos guys aren't as far behavior and Daniels some think.
Or really buff out this team with top talent take a top edge rusher take some top line man grab a really talented LB . Then go In to next year knowing you have the draft capital to get that too QB you want.

Those options give you so much more room to do something special that just taking a guy at 3 or for God sakes moving up in the stupidest move ever.

I dunno Gamby. Every time I watch Williams I see some traits that are among the best I’ve ever witnessed. His ability to move around in the pocket and keep his eyes downfield is the best I’ve seen, other than maybe Fran Tarkington. His arm talent is otherworldly.

What are the things he does or doesn’t do that convince you he will be a bust?

To me it's not his talent so much as it's his heart. He reminds me of Ben Simmons.

I think it's more about asset management and value. Sure if he falls to you at 2 or 3 and you take him that's fine its nutral value. But, even if I'm wrong and he is the next mahomes or brady. He's not enough to make this team good for a couple years anyway.
This team needs assets. With 3 T1 QB prospects and 3 T2 or T1.5 QBs in this draft. Trading back for assets and picking up one of the other good prospects such as Daniels or JJ is a very good move. We can use this high pick and hype over Williams and Maye to gather up enough assets to set us up for years with draft assets.

Is Penix for real? He looked great last night.

I just did a mock and landed…

Fashanu
Penix
Sander
Colson
Wilson
Worthy
Washington (from UVA)
Zac Zinter
Tarheeb Still
Stackhouse
The linebacker from A &M
The edge from Utah
And a NE 2nd rounder in 2025.

Got there by trading firsts with NE

If Penix is as good as he seems, that is a franchise resetting haul

Penix and JJ are making strong cases for themselves to be first round picks as winning players with talent. Do they touch Williams or Maye probably not because of the hype train. But they might pass up Daniels. The QB options in this draft are really solid after Williams and Maye, much more than people think.

Penix has the best ability to read defenses in the draft. But he’s also 23 and had a terrible injury history. We’re talking serious shoulder surgery on his throwing arm along with acl injuries. I think his medical makes it breaks him, but he’s talented…there’s no doubt about it.

I think it depends on where you draft him. If he falls to you at the 4th or 5th on say Three and you're looking at it like well he's worth a flyer here. I think that's fine.

Someone I really like, Cameron Ward form Washington state, entered the draft yesterday. Reminds me on Penix but more athletic, bigger are, but less good at being a QB. He does everything Penix does better except make reads and choices. Which yes is a big part but maybe fixable. The tallents there.

Definitely interesting times. So many potential strategy routes. Exciting times for a new GM--and really, that's the first domino that needs to fall. The coaching staff + GM combo is going to be the determining factor of if whoever we draft is successful or not.

I'm uncomfortable with QB evaluation in general. So many guys that have put up big time numbers like Haskins in college. 50 touchdowns, 8 interceptions, 70% completion percentage, and looks like an absolute amateur in the pros. Those guys aren't playing a similar enough game in college to feel comfortable with the analysis.

Maybe this is calculated, but I had no idea the deadline for options to be picked up is in May. It's relevant because Chicago hasn't picked up Fields' 5th year option and that decision isn't due until after the draft. So Chicago can go either way really with their pick. If they want Caleb, take him. I think too much is being made of the connection between Washington and Caleb being a local kid.
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.
