I think it helps that Havlat is in a contract year, but i have been nothing but impressed with that team

That contract year for Havlat also means that you'll have the space to bring in someone else with that money. Chicago is scary good right now and I'm so interested to see if they keep building the team right like they're doing.

There's a pretty big clamoring for the Hawks to resign Havlat, but I'm pretty hesitant on that. This is literally the only healthy year he's had in Chicago, and because of that the only year he's produced. He's going to ask for a load of money. Frankly I think the Hawks can survive without him and use that money elsewhere.

The bigger question is what they'll do with Khabibulin.

And I'm beyond impressed. I thought they'd be a playoff team this season, I didn't think they'd have 100 points and a chance for the 2nd round. However if they don't win tonight I'm rather scared of what could happen in a Game 7 with a young team and a physical force like Calgary.

Without Regher, without Phaneuf, and with a broken Sarich. . .that physical force just became a bunch of call ups and 30+ minutes for Aucoin. Throw in the injuries up front to Bourque, Lankow and Conroy. . . man the Flames got bit by the injury bug big time. . .at the worst possible time too

Yeah, Phaneuf being out tonight is a huge blow to the Flames.

Wow. Campbell growing some nuts and suspending Brashear 6 games. Had this been in the regular season, he would have got nothing. He definitely deserved it.

I agree, I like the call by Campbell. There's nothing wrong with playing physical and trying to get into the back of guy's heads but you can't go head hunting.

Ugh, friggen clinch your series already, I am having Bruins hockey withdrawals.

Smart move to suspend Brashear 6 games. Now if they don't advance, that goes into the start of next season, right?

Hawks on to Round 2.

Please, San Jose, make a comeback.

It'll be kind of sad to see the Ducks-Sharks series end if its done tonight (which I'm praying it is). These teams do not like each other at all.

The Sharks played like they just didn't give a crap anymore in the 3rd.

I did not want to see the Canucks at all. Eff.

Flames out. . .too bad the injury bug hit at the worst time. Even the guys playing were wearing casts under their unis. Chicago was definetly the better team though, you cant argue that. . .I really hope they put a dent in Vancouver

SJ. . .what a meltdown. Just no heart in the games that mattered. I thought when Big Joe and Getzlaf dropped the gloves off the opening face off, we would see a different Sharks team. Throw in a little adversity, and they become same old sharks. What do you do with that team now?? They made major trades, they brought in big name offseason free agents, fired their coach. . . i think the only thing left is to move a major major piece. . .but who wants Thornton now?

Anh Det is going to be really good. I think this is a great matchup for the Ducks. . .should be good for sure

Anaheim is going to be the Edmonton Oilers of a few years ago; they're going to upset everything in sight.

I really hope Chicago makes a huge push.

 @ Griff for saying the Sharks are an elite team. They sure got their ass's handed to them by the Ducks. I would say the Ducks are elite moreso then the Sharkies.

Great series by the Wings and the Hawks look like they are coming into their own. Should be a great 2nd round of matchups. Can't wait to see who we draw next and roll through them.

Ugh, Brooks Laich. I hate that guy. Saw him play in the Calder Cup Finals in Milwaukee for Hershey back in 2006. Hated him and Tomas Fleischmann.

Still rooting for the Caps though; I can't stand the Rangers.

This Caps/Rangers game is just nuts right now. 10 minutes left intense.

..Lundqvist is the definition of a franchise goalie btw, amazing.
