Its usually at this point when we Aussie's declare that we always hated soccer, that its a girls game and if you were a real man you would play Aussie Rules.

Our attack was awful... My biggest fear going into this game was a reality, we couldn't contain Özil, and some of those through balls were magical. I really really wish that Özil had Australian parents.

I really like Schweinsteiger's game in the midfield. Germany are easily a top 8 side.

Is there an appeal process against red cards? It was a dirty tackle by Cahill, and deserved a yellow, but a straight up red, c'mon... He didn't even go in sprigs up.

What the heck are Dachshunds or Hogan's Heros? :o

For real, you don't know what a Daschund is?

Hogan's Heroes was a TV series from the 60s about American POWs... it was a comedy... it's kind of hard to explain.

Oh, Dachshunds = Dackel(Duck-l).
I didn't know the english word for them.

I also know that show, but i couldn't recall neither the english, nor the German name of it.

You can try to appeal but don't expect anything out of it.
The Fifa is known to back up their refs and Cahill will be suspendet for at least a game. And i really hope it's not more, cause a yellow card and maybe some strong words would've been enough for that tackle.

My bad, I didn't notice your location was actually in Germany, Det. Wasn't trying to be a jerk, but I thought you were an American who legitimately didn't know what those things were.

No problem. ;)
I actually really didn't know what was meant as i didn't know these english desriptions or titles for the series.

Nope, the dog in this picture is called Dackel(spoken: Duck-l)l in German.

Though, those two words are german.

Dachs = Badger
Hund = Dog

So it would be a BadgerDog in english, if that makes any sense.

btw net vocabularies like transaltors display both duckel and dachshund as german terms for that breed, could it be regional?

Yeah, it's the same breed and i just knew about the short word for it.

Dachshund seems something hunters and the likes are using for it while Dackel is the more common name for this breed.

But let's stop talking about dogs in this thread, cause football/soccer should be more important. :D

This WC is weird. Who could tell that those fancy italian clowns wouldn't be the surest bet for a cleansheet?! Sorry, Gianluigi you won't be a captain tomorrow.

Who are some great players that aren't on stacked club teams?

Hmmm....not sure what stacked club teams are to you?

Do you mean teams like ManUnited, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City, Barca, Real Madrid, Inter, Juventus, Milan or Bayern?
Or even teams like Werder Bremen, Schalke, Stuttgart, Tottenham, Aston Villa, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Napoli, Roma etc.?

Guys playing on teams not always in the Champions League i'd recommand watching are.

Mesut Oezil(Bremen)
Marko Marin(Bremen)
Toni Kroos(was on loan at Leverkusen but will return to Bayern)
Diego Forlan(Atletico Madrid)
Ibrahim Affelay(PSV Eindhoven)
Keisuke Honda(ZSKA Moscow)
Bryan Ruiz(Twente Enschede)
Dieumerci Mbokani(Standard Liege)
Axel Witsel(Standard Liege)
Steven Defour(Standard Liege)
Romelu Lukaku(RSC Anderlecht)
Marek Hamsik(SSC Napoli)
Simon Kjaer(Palermo)

and the list goes on...

Nobody really knew why, but the german broadcaster speculated about a pinched nerve in his back.

I'm gambling a lot in this game. I had Messi as a captain but since I expect 9 points at worst from Buffon...
